#LightInDarkness
“``So it's only when light is set against the backdrop of darkness that we can truly see the brilliance of that light. I'm a say that again. It is only when light is set against the backdrop of darkness that we can see the brilliance of that light for what it is. That's why Paul starts this passage where he explains, in summary, the gospel by saying, and you were dead. We have to start with the bad news in order to realize the immensity of the good news of the gospel.”

#FaithIsAGift
“We are given faith. Have you guys ever thought about the fact that your faith is a gift from him? Just like Macy and just like the breath in your lungs, your faith is a gift from him. So we're given faith, which gives us new eyes and a new heart and ears to hear. And we get to see ourselves for who we really are and we get to see Jesus for who he really is. And with that new heart, we have a newfound motivation to find out who he is as he says he is. And we believe in the right Jesus, which means we believe in the right gospel, which means we are saved by grace through faith.”

#LiveWhatYouBelieve
“Calling ourselves Christians is not enough. Going to church is not enough. Knowing the gospel intellectually is not enough. If that's all we have, we will share it only in comfortable spaces and like the Christian college kids in the story I opened with, we will refuse to step out of our comfort zones to share it with people like pastor Neville. We have to actually believe it. Paul says when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation and believed, We have to live like we believe it. Like we believe that it is powerful enough to save anyone. We have to live like we believe that it is powerful enough to save anyone.”

#LoveCompelsWitness
“We as Christians were to be motivated by love. John writes that Jesus says, by by by this they will know that you are my disciples, that you have love for one another. We are to be motivated by love, and if we love people enough to be in a crowded movie theater that starts on fire and yell, fire, and pull the fire alarm. If we love people enough for that so they can escape the burning movie theater and not die, why wouldn't we tell them about the gospel of Jesus if we actually believe it?”
