#ChristCenteredGospel
“Gospel announced that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone and through his death and resurrection. So acts 13 reminds us the greatest enemy of the gospel is not always atheism. Actually, it is a religion emptied of Christ. That includes Christianity. Our own Christianity. There are a lot of American Christianity without Christ. Something else is, you know, is a center.”

#SpiritLedLife
“From this movement of the holy spirit, we learn that Christian life is not robotic obedience, but relational guidance. Spirit lives a living people, not machines. Notice that also what remains central is wherever they went. Verse five said, when they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in Jewish synagogue. They proclaimed the word of God. Their location may have involved flexibility, but their mission never changed.”

#GospelCarriers
“Christians, we are the ultimate people of ultimate good news. We are not merely consumers of our good news. We are the carriers of our good news. We reflect the good news wherever we reside. And church is not called to preserve the gospel in our own small piety, but proclaim it in our homes and workplaces, and campuses and nations. A living gospel create a moving people. People moving toward the lost people. Wherever spirit lives, gospel goes, and wherever gospel goes, lives are changed.”

#MiraclesPointToChrist
“Miracle opened the door, but it was a teaching of Christ that transformed the heart. As one commentator said, miracle gained his attention, but the gospel of Christ captured his soul. As dramatic as the judgment upon Elymas was, greater wonder was the message Paul proclaimed, that through Jesus Christ, sinners could receive forgiveness and grace and new life through cross cross and resurrection. Miracles may awaken curiosity, but only truth of Christ can awaken faith.”

#GraceRestores
“God's work is bigger than human weaknesses. Success of the gospel does not rest on flawless servants of God, but a faithful savior. Hallelujah. John Mark's story doesn't end here. Later, John was restored, became useful to ministry again that Paul in second Timothy four eleven said, get Mark, bring back with you you Timothy because he's helpful to me in my ministry. So this is not the end story of John because grace had a final say.”

#FalsePietyWarning
“Now, what is striking in this passage? The opposition does not first come from open paganism or violent persecution. Opposition to gospel came from religious looking men. Religious looking men or pseudo religious. Alima spoke the spiritual language. He appeared wise, mystical, and religious, let alone Jewish. But beneath the appearance of his spirituality was a distortion and deception. He tried to turn the Sergius Paulus away from the faith.”

#ReligionWithoutTruth
“In that sense, Elymas represents more than individual false prophets. He represents the danger of a distorted religion, religion without truth, spirituality without repentance, and power without God. That's why Luke emphasized that Elymas opposed or was opposing this gospel. He was not neutral. False religion is never merely harmless confusion. It actively turns people away from Jesus Christ.”

#SpiritOverDarkness
“Whenever gospel advances, resistance appears. Sometimes the greatest battle is not external persecution, but a quiet inner struggle that slowly pulls our heart away from Christ. Elymas reminds us that darkness often disguises itself as attractive and reasonable, even religious form. Yet this story reminds us the power of the Holy Spirit, one who is in us, is greater than one in the world. Amen? Christ still brings a light into blindness and the truth into confusion.”
