#WhoAreYouListeningTo
“Whether we realize it or not, we're all being discipled by something. Every conversation we have, every piece of content that we consume, consume, every relationship that we invest in, it is moving us in some direction. So the question is not am I being influenced? The question is who or what is influencing me? Psalm one says, the blessed person refuses to let that biggest influence be the world. They refuse to let the world be their primary counsel. They refuse to let the world be their strongest adviser.”

#ShapedByTheWord
“See, the key to not being shaped and influenced by the world is being increasingly shaped by the word. The way we're not influenced by the world is by letting the primary influence be God's word. According to Psalm one, the blessed person doesn't just reject the ways of the world, but the blessed person also delights in God's word. They delight in his word. It's someone who's so captivated, so in love with God, and all that he's done, and all that he is, and all that he's promised us in Christ that they want his voice to be the loudest voice. The world no longer has the power to shape them because God through his word is shaping them.”

#JesusLivingWater
“If we read all the scripture, we begin to realize that the streams of Psalm one are ultimately pointing us to Jesus. He is the stream of life. He is the source of living water. He is the one who can nourish and sustain us through every season. He's the one who transforms us from the inside out to bear fruit that glorifies him and looks more like him. We delight in God's word because it reveals the one who gives us life, the word. Is why I'm challenging you to read your word and meditate on the word because in some ways, ultimately, to delight in God's word is to delight in Jesus. So read his word. Meditate on his word. Delight in his word because that is delight in Jesus and that's the nourishment we need. Will you delight in him?”

#RootedInGod
“And that trust is what is the roots. It's it's roots that go down deep and help us to stand in every season of life. Notice that neither one of these passages, neither one of them say that the blessed life is without hardship. Neither one of them say it's absent of heat or drought. In fact, they both assume that those seasons are coming. They are coming. But when the heat comes, the tree remains green. When the drought comes, it continues to bear fruit. Why? Because the tree is able to survive and thrive despite the circumstances around it because of what's underneath it. The source that it's drawing from beneath it. That's the picture of a blessed person. The blessed person is not someone who avoids difficult seasons. It's not someone who's promised a life without hardship, without suffering, without disappointment or grief. No. It's someone whose life is so deeply rooted in God and being shaped by his word and his promises that when those seasons come, they're sustained by him. His word is a source of strength that the world could never provide and that their circumstances could never take away.”
