God has always been speaking, and God has always been listening to His children. The question is not whether God is transmitting, but whether the radio of the spirit is tuned in and the antenna is up. The Father does not speak only to a few special people, because Jesus says His sheep hear His voice, know Him, and follow Him. Christ’s blood removes the lie that unworthiness disqualifies a child of God from hearing the Father.

The radio image shows that God uses many modes of communication. The Holy Spirit uses the Bible as the proper frequency band, and the Word and Spirit work together to decode God’s transmission. The written logos can become rhema when the Spirit breathes on a familiar verse and makes it land exactly where it is needed. The Holy Spirit never goes out of band, because God will never speak something that contradicts His Word.

Prophetic voice on this side of the cross carries mercy, grace, love, encouragement, and edification. Satan’s out-of-band voice may disguise itself as correction, but condemnation, guilt, accusation, and tearing down carry the fragrance of the enemy rather than God. The mind of Christ takes those arrows captive and refuses to make agreement with lies.

God also speaks in dreams, visions, and the hidden places of the night. Dreams call believers to seek God’s face, test interpretation through the Holy Spirit and Scripture, and record what God may unfold years later. God hides things for His children, not from them, so that hungry hearts will search out the deeper meaning of what He says.

“God wants to give you words and calls you to prophesy, to declare to dry bones and see what has looked dead come back to life. It's worth speaking to what can be called the Old Testament prophet versus a New Testament prophet. Not saying that a prophetic word at times may bring warning and correction, but I think that we are hearing too often from those that wield a form of judgment, and they do this in the name of the Lord saying, this is what he said. We can, all too often, use our eyes and ears, and then we call this discernment. This produces judgment. We use our spirit intertwined with the Holy Spirit to discern. Look, if it's not in love, it's noise. It's a clanging gong. It's not God. As you prophesy on this side of the cross and on this side of the resurrection of Jesus, like his gift of salvation, it is all about his mercy and ultimately his grace and his love. Your voice, his voice, is going to exalt, build up, edify, and encourage as you deliver the mail. Amen?”
