God's Supernatural Intelligence vs. AI: Our True Security

Summary

In a world increasingly fascinated by artificial intelligence, it’s easy to be impressed by technology’s capabilities and efficiency. Yet, as helpful as AI may be, it has its limitations—errors, blind spots, and a knowledge cutoff. Unlike AI, God offers us something infinitely greater: supernatural intelligence, perfect knowledge, and unwavering presence. Psalm 139 reveals the depth of God’s attributes—His omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence—and how these truths provide us with real security, identity, and hope.

God’s omniscience means He knows us completely—our past, present, and future. He searches and explores every aspect of our lives, not impersonally, but with deep intimacy. There is nothing about us—our thoughts, our motives, our struggles—that escapes His notice. This knowledge is both comforting and humbling, reminding us that we can be honest with God, for He already knows our hearts.

God’s omnipresence assures us that there is nowhere we can go where He is not already present. Whether we ascend to the heights or descend to the depths, whether we find ourselves in the light or in the darkness, God is there—leading, holding, and covering us. His presence is not limited to sacred or sanitized spaces; He is with us in every circumstance, even in the places we least expect.

God’s omnipotence is displayed in how He created us—intentionally, intricately, and imaginatively. Before we were even formed, God saw us and had a purpose for us. Our identity is not an accident or a product of chance, but a reflection of God’s creative power and loving intention. In a world where many struggle with self-worth and identity, God’s declaration over us is that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

These truths invite us to live with courage and confidence, knowing that God’s coverage is comprehensive and eternal. Unlike insurance, which only offers peace of mind in case of an accident, God’s coverage is proactive, personal, and rooted in His unchanging character. Even when life’s bridges collapse unexpectedly, we can trust that God’s hand is upon us, guiding and sustaining us through every trial.

Key Takeaways

- God’s Omniscience: God knows every detail of our lives—our actions, thoughts, and even the words we have yet to speak. This intimate knowledge means we can approach Him with honesty, knowing He understands us better than we understand ourselves. His knowledge is not just informational but relational, inviting us into deeper authenticity with Him. [12:04]

- God’s Omnipresence: There is no place—high or low, light or dark—where God is not fully present. His presence is not confined to church or “holy” spaces; He is with us in every moment and every location. This truth brings comfort in loneliness and courage in uncertainty, reminding us that we are never abandoned. [28:41]

- God’s Omnipotence and Our Identity: God’s power is seen in how He formed us with intention and care, declaring us fearfully and wonderfully made. Our worth is not determined by culture, appearance, or performance, but by God’s creative act and loving thoughts toward us. Embracing this truth combats the lies of inadequacy and grounds us in divine purpose. [51:21]

- God’s Thoughts Toward Us: The Creator of the universe thinks about us constantly, and His thoughts are precious, vast, and always present. Even when we feel forgotten or insignificant, God’s mind is full of love and purpose for us. Tuning into His thoughts rather than the world’s opinions transforms our sense of value and belonging. [55:15]

- The Invitation to Surrender: Psalm 139 ends with a bold prayer—“Search me, O God, and know my heart.” Inviting God to examine and lead us is an act of trust, acknowledging His wisdom and care. This surrender is not about fear of exposure, but about opening ourselves to God’s healing, guidance, and everlasting way. [01:02:04]

Psalm 139:1-24 (ESV)

> 1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
> 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
> 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
> 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
> 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.
> 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
> 7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
> 8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
> 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
> 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
> 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,”
> 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
> 13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
> 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
> 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
> 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
> 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
> 18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.
> 19 Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God! O men of blood, depart from me!
> 20 They speak against you with malicious intent; your enemies take your name in vain.
> 21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
> 22 I hate them with complete hatred; I count them my enemies.
> 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!
> 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Devotional

Day 1: God’s Omniscience—He Knows You Completely
God knows every detail of your life—your past, present, and future. He searches your heart, understands your thoughts before you speak them, and is intimately acquainted with all your ways. There is nothing hidden from Him, and His knowledge of you is not distant or impersonal, but deeply personal and loving. Even before a word is on your tongue, He knows it altogether. This truth can be both comforting and humbling, reminding you that you are fully known and still fully loved by God. [12:04]

Psalm 139:1-6 (ESV)
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.

Reflection: What is one thought or feeling you’ve been hiding from God or others? Take a moment today to honestly bring it before God, knowing He already knows and loves you.

Day 2: God’s Omnipresence—He Is With You Everywhere
There is nowhere you can go where God is not present. Whether you ascend to the heights or descend to the depths, whether you are in a place of joy or a place of struggle, God is there to lead you, hold you, and cover you. His presence is not limited to sacred or safe places; He is with you in every circumstance, offering guidance and comfort. Even in the darkest moments, God’s presence brings light, and you are never alone. [34:24]

Psalm 139:7-12 (ESV)
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.

Reflection: Where in your life do you feel alone or abandoned? Invite God into that space today, trusting that He is already there with you.

Day 3: God’s Omnipotence—You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
God’s power is displayed in how He created you—intentionally, intricately, and imaginatively. He formed your inward parts and knitted you together in your mother’s womb. You are not an accident or a mistake; you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God’s works are wonderful. Even before you were seen by anyone else, God saw you and had a purpose for your life. Let this truth shape your identity and give you confidence in who you are in Christ. [51:21]

Psalm 139:13-16 (ESV)
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.

Reflection: What is one negative belief you hold about yourself? Ask God to replace it with the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Day 4: God’s Thoughts Toward You Are Precious and Unending
God not only created you, but He continually thinks about you with love and care. His thoughts toward you are precious, vast, and valuable—more than the grains of sand. Even when you are unaware, God is present and thinking of you. His presence never fades, and His love never ceases. You can find security and joy in knowing that the God of the universe delights in you and is always mindful of you. [55:15]

Psalm 139:17-18 (ESV)
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.

Reflection: When was the last time you paused to consider how much God thinks about you? Take a few minutes today to thank Him for His constant, loving attention.

Day 5: Invite God to Search and Lead You
Because God knows you, is always with you, and has all power, you can trust Him to search your heart and lead you in the way everlasting. Rather than hiding or pretending, you can invite God to examine your thoughts and motives, to reveal anything that needs to change, and to guide you into His best for your life. This is a courageous prayer, but it leads to true transformation and peace, knowing you are fully covered by God’s love and wisdom. [01:02:04]

Psalm 139:23-24 (ESV)
Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!

Reflection: What area of your life do you need to surrender to God’s searching and leading today? Pray Psalm 139:23-24, and listen for what God reveals.

God's presence is never not presence. God's presence is never not present. The issue is we're not aware and tuned in to God's presence. It's kind of like finding, remember back when you had a radio?
