### Summary
Welcome, everyone. Before we dive into today's message, I have a few important announcements. Next week's worship service is planned to be held outside. However, if it rains on Saturday, we will move the service to the multipurpose room on Sunday. Regardless of the weather, we need volunteers to help set up at 8 AM. The church will provide meat, but please bring a side dish or drinks to share. If we end up inside, we'll keep the doors open and broadcast the service to the neighborhood. Also, I have added more writings on creation and Genesis in the back if you're interested.
Let's turn to Genesis 1:1-2. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep water. The Spirit of God was hovering over the water." This passage is foundational, declaring that the universe did not come into existence by chance but was created by a sovereign, intelligent, and powerful God. The Bible makes it clear that God, Elohim, is the supreme creator of the universe, a universe that stretches into unfathomable dimensions and includes an unbelievable number of worlds.
God was there in the beginning, already existing when the universe first began. He is the God of power who created the universe. The opening words of Scripture, "In the beginning, God," are astounding. They captivate us because they answer the basic questions of creation. The universe did not just happen; it was deliberately and personally created by God.
The problem is that so few of us seek to know God. Scripture tells us to seek the Lord while He may be found. God is near, and when we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him. God created the universe out of nothing. He simply spoke, and things came into being. His word was the process, the method, and the means by which He created. There was nothing existing before God spoke the universe into existence.
God's word is powerful. Psalm 33 says, "By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of His mouth." God holds His word in the highest regard. If His word is that important in creating the world, think how much more it means to us. The trials we face, the impossible situations we encounter, can be overcome by the power of God's word.
There is purpose in creation. The universe did not come into being by chance. God was there, and He had a plan. He thought up the universe and brought it into being. This means that there is purpose to the universe and to our lives. Life is not just about the physical and material; it is about God's presence and purpose for us. We will never find true happiness and fulfillment in this world; it is found in Jesus Christ.
The heavens and the earth reveal God's glory. When we look at the vastness of the universe, we see the handiwork of God. Our earth is just a tiny speck in the grand scheme of things, yet God created it with purpose. The universe is expanding, and the galaxies are moving away from each other at incredible speeds. This profound and stunning reality points to the glory of God.
In conclusion, God is the creator of the universe. He created everything out of nothing by the power of His word. There is purpose in creation, and that purpose includes you. Seek God while He may be found, and you will find true fulfillment in Him.
