In times of deep trial and uncertainty, God promises His presence and strength to His people. Even when facing overwhelming circumstances, such as illness or loss, He assures us that we do not need to be afraid or dismayed, for He is our God. He upholds us with His righteous right hand, offering help and encouragement when we feel weak. This truth is not just a comfort in theory but a living reality for all who trust in Him, reminding us that we are never alone in our battles. [29:50]
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Reflection: What is one fear or anxiety you are carrying today? Take a moment to name it before God and ask Him specifically to uphold you with His strength in that area.
God is sovereign over every detail of history and our personal stories. Even when evil and suffering occur, He is not the direct cause but allows, limits, and redeems all things for His purposes. The events of our lives, even those that seem random or painful, are under His wise and loving control. We can trust that He is working out His plan, directing the course of nations and the intimate moments of our lives, and nothing escapes His notice or care. [54:29]
Isaiah 46:9-10 (ESV)
“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’”
Reflection: Can you recall a time when a difficult or unexpected detail in your life later revealed God’s faithfulness? How might you look for His hand in your current circumstances?
God sees and values every act of faithfulness, no matter how small or unseen by others. He promises to reward those who serve Him, whether through sacrifice, perseverance, or simple acts of kindness. Just as the martyrs are honored to reign with Christ, so too are all who trust and serve Him assured that their labor is not in vain. God delights in giving good gifts to His children and will one day make all things right, rewarding those who have remained steadfast. [59:05]
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Reflection: Who is one person you can serve or encourage today, even if no one else notices? Ask God to help you persevere in doing good for His sake.
God is a God of justice who will ultimately defeat evil and right every wrong. Though injustice and suffering may seem to prevail now, there is a coming day when Jesus will reign in righteousness, and all who oppose Him will face judgment. This assurance frees us from the burden of seeking revenge or becoming bitter, and instead calls us to trust God’s timing and justice, knowing He will deal with evil fully and finally. [01:06:54]
Romans 12:19 (ESV)
“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”
Reflection: Is there a situation where you are tempted to seek your own justice? How can you release that desire to God and instead pray for those involved?
Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and the path we hoped for is not the one we walk. In these moments, God invites us to trust Him and surrender our plans, believing that He remains good and sovereign even when He doesn’t “fix” things the way we desire. True faith is found in trusting God’s heart and character, knowing He is with us and will use every circumstance for our ultimate good and His glory. [01:12:57]
Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Reflection: Where in your life do you need to surrender your own expectations or plans? What would it look like to trust God with that area today?
This past season has been a journey marked by God’s faithfulness, from the challenges of brain surgery and radiation to the deep encouragement found in Scripture and the support of family, friends, and the church. In the midst of uncertainty, the words of an old hymn—“thy dross to consume, thy gold to refine”—became a personal anchor, reminding us that God uses trials to purify and strengthen our faith. Isaiah 41:10, with its promise that God upholds us with His righteous right hand, has been a sustaining truth, especially as we walk through suffering and the unknown.
Turning to Revelation 20, we encounter the “millennium”—a thousand-year reign of Christ that has sparked much debate among Christians. While interpretations differ, what stands out is not the precise timeline, but the character and purposes of God revealed in this passage. God’s sovereignty is on display: He directs the course of history, binds Satan, and orchestrates every detail according to His will. Even when evil seems rampant, God is neither absent nor powerless; He allows, limits, and ultimately redeems suffering for His glory and our good.
The millennium also illustrates that God rewards those who serve Him. Whether the thrones in John’s vision are occupied by martyrs or all believers, the principle remains: God sees and honors faithfulness, even when it is costly. Our acts of service, perseverance in prayer, and quiet sacrifices are not forgotten. Just as human gift-givers delight in blessing others, our Heavenly Father delights even more in rewarding those who trust and obey Him.
Yet, God is also just. The final defeat of Satan and the judgment of those who reject Christ remind us that evil will not have the last word. God’s justice is perfect—He will right every wrong and bring an end to suffering, pain, and death. In the meantime, we are called to trust, to persevere in doing good, and to surrender to God’s sovereign path, even when it diverges from our own plans. Stories like Laura Story’s, who found hope and surrender in the midst of her husband’s brain injury, encourage us to embrace the path God sets before us, knowing He is with us, He is good, and He will make all things new.
Revelation 20:1-10 (ESV) — > Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
>
> Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
>
> And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Isaiah 41:10 (ESV) — > Fear not, for I am with you;
> be not dismayed, for I am your God;
> I will strengthen you, I will help you,
> I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
God is in control of the details and the timing of what happens when and how. And that's really, that's the story not just of Revelation and the example of what happens at the end.end of the world. It's what the whole Bible recounts. God's sovereign goodness, his faithfulness, his plan as enacted for Israel, for the church, and then for all of us. And what we see throughout the whole Bible is how God is in control, how he remains faithful, how even when people are unfaithful, God still remains true to his own word. Right now, it sure feels like the devil is running free, and God is allowing that to enable people to make a choice. I think that's a lot of what the tribulation and the end times are for, is to make the choice so tangible that no one can claim at the end, I didn't know.I didn't know I was choosing or rejecting Jesus.In the end, there will be an anti -Jesus and still Jesus, and everyone will know they had a choice to make. So whatever you are sitting here and facing, hold on to this truth that's illustrated for us in the millennium. God is the one who sends the angel, who holds the key, who unlocks things. God is the one who keeps the devil on on the leash that he's on. He is in control of all the details of history and of our lives. So hold on to the faithfulness of God. If we have human beings around us who know how to give good gifts, how much more our Father in heaven does He know how to give good gifts to those who trust in Him and follow Him? You know, Jesus says it that way, if you, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more does your Father in heaven know what you need and know how to give good gifts to us. [00:59:59] (24 seconds) #perseveranceharvest
The application of this for us is that God rewards those who trust in him, who serve him. Don't grow, Galatians 6, don't grow weary in doing good. At the proper time, you will reap a harvest if you don't give up. So don't be discouraged. As you serve, as you reach out, as you pray, as you persevere, God knows how to reward those who serve him. Our God is a God of justice.He has promised over and over again that he will punish evil, that everyone will get exactly what they deserve in that day and come back next week for the final judgment.If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire that is designed to punish the devil and his servants forever.God punishes those who reject Jesus just as he rewards those who serve Jesus. [01:08:47] (32 seconds) #faithfulsovereignlove
So be encouraged today, brothers and sisters, this reign of Jesus that did begin with his death and resurrection, that is continuing now, and I believe will be on earth in Jerusalem for a thousand years in the end.Just know that God is in control of the details of history and the details of your life and mine. Our God is a God of faithfulness, goodness, power, and love. Nothing takes him by surprise.He is in control, redeeming and restoring all things. [01:09:19] (32 seconds) #avengeinloveprayserve
He rewards those who serve him. So don't be discouraged as you continue to pray for and reach out to the lost and hurting around you. Continue to press on in love. And for those who are suffering evil and injustice, don't take into your heart the desire to get justice on your own. God says it is mine to avenge, I will repay.Now is the time to love our neighbors, to pray for those who persecute us. Now is the time of God's favor and the day of salvation.So we need to press on and continue to reach as many as we can to serve the hurting and broken around us. Laura wrote that book and she wrote that song as her husband had just had brain surgery. They'd only been married two years.Her husband had had brain surgery and he lost his short -term memory.So when he wakes up from surgery, he knew Laura Story as a songwriter and performer and worship leader and but he didn't know where he was or what was going on and so he wakes up and he says, you're Laura Story.And of course, her name had become Laura Wilmington because they were married. But he didn't know. He's like, you're Laura Story. And she says, yes, do you know why I'm here?And he was like, I don't know. And and she said, because you guys.we're married to each other. You're my husband. And he didn't understand that, but he goes, yes.And she wrote in the book, she said, if your husband's not going to recognize you or know you, that's the best response you can hope for in that moment.
