#LiveTheKingdomNow
“And my friends, this is this is the teaching referring back to all the gospel writings. This is the teaching of what we call the kingdom. The kingdom of Jesus, the rule and the reign, the the life to the full that he promised is both it's experienced now and is experienced eternity. So when we abide with Jesus, we trust him. And my friends, this is a hard thing. We trust him with a full day of our busy schedule as one of the examples of a way that we can trust him, which is very hard in our culture, very hard in our culture, we are actually practicing something that will continue through eternity. The type of work done in eternity is very different, and the rest that we have in a God that we can actually see with our eyes is very different, but we're starting eternity early. We're living in the kingdom here and now, and the kingdom that is not quite yet.”

#TrustOverSelf
“The the the recipients of this letter is talking about the people of Israel as they entered into the promised land and how they didn't practice the things that God clearly gave them as a gift Coming into the promised land, entering into his rest and his abundance. So this isn't just about Sabbath, but it does very strongly refer to Sabbath. And they didn't do so because they lacked faith. In my own experience, I can say the times that I have failed to to feel and know and experience God's rest, it has I can tie it back almost every time to my own self sufficiency and my lack of faith. That God's the one who's got this. That my purpose, my hard work, my determination, my smarts, my skills are not the things that lead to life to the full. It's God and his sustaining provision that leads to that life.”

#LivingWordTransforms
“And God's word, the power of God's word, the power of his commands, not just the practice of Sabbath, but all of God's commands. The power of God's life to the full lived in and through Jesus, exposes all of our dysfunction. God's word is living and active. And it cuts us deep where soul and spirit meet, where joints and marrow meet, and it exposes our thoughts and intentions. This is a beautiful thing, but this is a very hard thing.”

#TrySabbathNextWeek
“But here's the challenge today, my friends. If this practice isn't in your life, the challenge is start next week. Start next week. Spend the next six days doing little things to prepare to stop. As Alicia said, procrastination is your Sabbath killer. And then after you've spent six days preparing, stop. Have your first try at abiding in Christ in this way and trusting him with everything that's undone.”

#SabbathIsInvitation
“But my friends, this is like everything here at Lake Point. This is an invitation. I mean, that's everything in the way of Jesus. It's an invitation towards something that will actually make your life better. And yes, it's a command. Literally, one of the 10 big ones. But this is a different kind of command. None of the other commandments start out with the word remember.”

#RitualsReflectJesus
“And Colossians, as I mentioned, talks very specifically about we should not let rituals and spiritual practices become anything other than a reflection of Jesus himself. We should not judge others, and we should not get caught up in teachings of any kind, especially the ones you find on YouTube, my friends. We shouldn't let them become a law of Moses two point o. Jesus practiced Sabbath, and he clarified the heart of Sabbath in lots of his teachings and practices. And it's in his rhythm of life, the way that he connected to these practices that lead to life to the full.”

#FromDutyToDelight
“And the first couple months that we practiced this as a family, we invited the kids into it and all of that. I just want to tell you that for me personally, it was extremely unsettling. And I remember having conversations with my wife Melissa and how she felt similar. We're different, we both felt I remember the word guilty coming up. Especially the first week or two, I felt guilty like I was being lazy. I felt the weight of all the things that were left undone. as I mentioned earlier, I think I was just feeling the weight of how dependent I was on myself. And in the the past three years, practice has gone from duty and discipline delight and joy.”

#SabbathRevealsHeart
“And my friends, if you have taken the challenge and tried to practice a day of stopping a Sabbath day, you find very fast that that dysfunction that I mentioned just a little bit earlier, my all my striving and all my trying, you will find that all Sabbath is like it's like the thing where all of a sudden everything stops and whatever is whatever junk has has been lingering under the surface seems to rise to the top. Not every week, but very often.”
