God's Faithfulness: New Mercies, Testimony, and Witness

Lamentations 3:22-23 lifts up the goodness and faithfulness of God in the middle of sorrow, heartache, and things going haywire. Jeremiah looks back over Jerusalem destroyed and the temple wrecked, and still remembers that “it is of the Lord’s mercies” that the people are not consumed. Jeremiah comes to himself and sees that through the ups and the downs, the good and the bad, God has been faithful.

God gives new mercies every morning. God wakes his children up, lifts them up, keeps them in a right mind, and blesses them with many good things. God commands prayer because sincere prayer changes things, and when the heart is down and the spirit is low, the Master lifts up. God gives strength to look back over suffering and still say that things are as well as they are because all things are working together for good to those called according to his purpose.

Matthew 23:9 sets the heart straight concerning Father’s Day, because there is only one Father, and he is in heaven. The one Father is creator, sustainer, and giver of every good and perfect gift. God may give daddies and mommies who point their children toward the heavenly Father, but God alone sits high, looks low, and hears and answers the prayers of his children.

Romans 12 calls the children of God to present the body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, and to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Christ has already won the race and given the victory. The ark of safety is the body of Christ, and the name of Jesus is the call by which the sinner is saved. The Holy Spirit leads and guides into all truth, making the child of God a brand new creature walking in newness of life.

God’s master plan stands true regardless of what the world says. God’s way is the right way and the only way to live a righteous and holy life. Jesus the Christ is the risen Savior, the Lamb of God, the lily of the valley, the bright and morning star, the heart fixer, the mind regulator, bread in a hungry land, and water in a thirsty land.

God calls for witnesses. Jeremiah becomes a witness after sorrow, and the healed child of God becomes a witness after affliction. God gives testimonies so somebody who does not know him might hear that he heals, delivers, and answers prayer in the name of Jesus. The Father who sits high still orders steps, seasons tongues with wisdom, and sends his loving kindness through willing hands and willing voices.
