Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

"When we come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, when we place our faith in the person of Jesus Christ to save us from our sins, to make us part of His kingdom, to make us citizens of His kingdom, part of His family, it's because we've been persuaded that He is who He said He is, that He has done what Scripture says He's done. We've been persuaded by what He's already done." [00:28:17] (27 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Paul replied, short time or long, I pray to God that not only you, but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains. The king rose, and with him the governor and Bernice and those sitting with him. After they left the room, they began saying to one another, this man is not doing anything that deserves death or imprisonment." [00:33:52] (17 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Paul's talking about how he came to know Jesus, his encounter, with Christ on the road to Damascus, but he's also talking about the other works of God in his life. He's done that already multiple times as he's shared his history, as he's shared his background. You read in the epistles that he writes to churches and to individuals, and he does that. He talks about the way God has worked in him and through him in other areas, and he points to God through all of it." [00:36:26] (26 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Paul uses the work of God in his life to point to Jesus. We can use the work of God in our lives to point people to Jesus, but it always goes back to Christ because it's him that's working. It's not because of me. It's not the work I've done. It's not how great I am or what I've accomplished in my life. It's about the work that God has done in me." "Keep your courage. None of us will die. None of you will be lost if you listen. An angel came to me, he says, he said, don't be afraid. You're going to stand before Caesar and God has given you the lives of those who are sailing with you. And so keep your courage. We will be saved, like God said, but we have to crash first." "Paul promised them, Paul told them, you follow what I say and not a single life will be lost. And they all make it to land. And then chapter 28 picks up and they are on what's called the island of Malta. He's verse 10. Verse 10 verses." [00:55:41] (19 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and as he put it on the fire, a viper driven out by the heat fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, this man must be a murderer. For though he escaped from the sea, the goddess justice has not allowed him to live. But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects." [00:56:29] (22 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"Based on Paul's life, based on his life patterns that we see, we can assume this is what he did. He points to Jesus. He uses this event in his life to point people to Jesus. Why didn't he die getting bit by this snake? Because the people of the island, they know what this snake is. It's not like they're like, oh, he got bit by a snake. We don't know what kind of snake that was. They knew what to expect, and it doesn't happen." [00:59:31] (33 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

"God is always at work, whether we see it or not. Whether we recognize it or not, God is always at work. And we look to His past faithfulness as evidence for His present and future faithfulness." [01:03:50] (16 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
