“``Romans five calls Jesus the better Adam because where the first man, husband, and father failed in the garden, Jesus succeeded. Guys, here here's what happened. Man, Adam and Eve were walking with God in the garden. They had God's word, and then Satan approached Eve in the form of a serpent, and he deceived her. And he led her to reject God's word and to walk in sin. And Adam followed her example, and and the effects had been far reaching. What should Adam have done in that moment? Adam should have seen the serpent coming for his family, and he should have locked eyes with that serpent and said, over my dead body. And he should have entered into combat with that serpent to put that serpent to death and to protect his family. But instead, was passive. Instead, he didn't step forward, and we all feel the effects of that. Because the bible says that hundreds of years, thousands of years later, Jesus Christ came as the second Adam. And when the serpent came for us, Jesus stepped forward at the cross. He locked eyes with the serpent, and he said, over my dead body.”

“And the scriptures tell us that on the cross, Jesus was bruised deeply by the serpent, but he also crushed the serpent's head. On the cross, guys, all of my sin and all of your sin was imputed to Jesus. All of it was put on him, and the wrath of God was poured out on Christ. But if you repent and trust in Christ, what happens? All of the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to you. And the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead comes to dwell in your life and empower you to change. Because of the work of Jesus, everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved and given the power to change. You can become a new man. You can become a new husband. You can become a new father. But before you can stand up and lead your family, you've gotta bow your knee to the lordship of Jesus Christ.”

“And guys, this isn't just the pattern of Joshua 24. This is the pattern of the entire bible. I need you to understand this. This is what makes Christianity different from other religions, like Mormonism or Hinduism or Islam. This is what they say. If I obey, then I will be accepted. If I obey, then I will be accepted. Here's what the gospel says. I am accepted through Christ, therefore, obey. Joshua didn't go right to verse 14 like, you better get your act together, men. No. He's like verse one through 13. God has been so gracious to you. He has been so wonderful to you. Now, in response to that, obey him. Guys, religion says performance leads to acceptance. But the gospel says, acceptance in Christ leads to performance. Your motivation for becoming a godly man or a godly woman or a godly father must spring from the acceptance you already have from your heavenly father.”

“See, guys, you you weren't designed to be satisfied by this world. You weren't designed to be satisfied by just unrestrained appetite. You were designed to be satisfied in God. And Christ came and did everything necessary for you to have a relationship with God, and true freedom and joy and purpose is not found just doing whatever you want. It's found in living your design and being the man or the woman that God created you to be. So here's what you have to remember. If you're gonna be a a godly man, really a godly woman, a godly anything, you have to remember that true freedom is not found in sin. It's not found in doing whatever you want. True freedom is living according to your design.”
