Mary faced the loss of reputation, the shock of her family, and the real possibility that Joseph would not believe her—yet she yielded her future to God. She didn’t have all the answers; she simply trusted the One who called her. Saying yes to God often feels costly, but His presence and favor meet us in the place of surrender. When He has your yes, He carries what you cannot carry and brings fruit you could never produce on your own. Today, offer Him the unknowns and let His Word reshape your fears into faith [40:42].
Luke 1:26–38
God sent Gabriel to a young woman in Nazareth named Mary. He greeted her as one favored by God and told her not to fear, because she would conceive a son by the Holy Spirit and name him Jesus. He would rule forever, the promised Son of the Most High. When Mary asked how this could be, the angel said God’s power would overshadow her and reminded her that nothing God speaks will fail. Mary replied, “I belong to the Lord—let everything happen just as He has said.”
Reflection: Where might saying yes to God risk your reputation or comfort this week, and what small, concrete step could you take today to obey Him anyway?
Joseph’s world was turned upside down, but he chose to trust God’s word in a dream and protect what God was doing. His yes didn’t remove the mystery; it made room for God to lead every next step. When two people give God their yes, heaven multiplies their impact beyond what either could do alone. Ask for courage to obey the voice of the Lord, even when clarity comes at night and confirmation waits on the other side of obedience. Your yes may be the missing piece to someone else’s breakthrough [52:43].
Matthew 1:18–25
Before Mary and Joseph lived together, she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Joseph, a just man, planned a quiet separation, but an angel told him not to fear taking Mary as his wife, because the child was from God. The angel said the boy would be named Jesus, because He would rescue His people from their sins, fulfilling the promise that God would be with us. When Joseph woke up, he did what God commanded and cared for Mary until the child was born, and he named Him Jesus.
Reflection: Who is one person you could link arms with in obedient agreement, and what specific request will you bring to God together this week?
God is not searching for flawless resumes; He is looking for willing hearts. Favor looks like joy and fulfillment as you walk in step with the Holy Spirit, aligned with His purposes and watching lives change by His power. That path may include pruning and sculpting, but the fruit is eternal and the nearness of God is sweet. Keep your heart undivided, available, and ready—say yes again, and let Him pour grace through you. In the Lord’s favor, mountains move that you could never budge alone [59:08].
2 Timothy 2:20–21
In a great house there are common and special vessels. When someone sets themselves apart—clean of competing loyalties—they become ready for honorable use. God prepares such a person for every good work He wants to do through them.
Reflection: Where do you sense God “sculpting” your life right now, and what daily practice could help you yield that area to Him with trust?
Every disciple faces a battle of the wills: who is in charge—me or the Lord? Like a child learning to trust a loving parent, we grow by choosing obedience in the small things and surrendering what we grip most tightly. The Spirit gently invites you from “mine, mine, mine” to “I am Yours.” Release your schedule, reputation, and outcomes, and let Jesus lead. The peace that follows is deeper than control could ever offer [44:01].
Philippians 2:1–8
If you have found encouragement in Christ, then share one heart and one love. Lay down selfish ambition, treat others as more important than yourself, and look out for their good. This is the mindset of Jesus, who, though equal with God, didn’t cling to privilege but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant.
Reflection: What is one specific “mine” you’re clinging to, and how will you open your hands to God in that area this week?
There is power when more than one heart is fully surrendered—marriages strengthened, friendships emboldened, churches advancing with holy synergy. The enemy knows this and works to sow disunity, but humility and mutual submission shut the door on his schemes. Choose to go low, forgive quickly, and seek God’s will together; watch how He multiplies impact. Your combined yes will move what felt immovable and shine light in dark places. Agree in faith, and take the next obedient step together [37:31].
Matthew 18:19–20
If two on earth agree to ask the Father for something in line with His will, He will act. When even two or three gather with Jesus at the center, He is present among them.
Reflection: With whom do you need to pursue humble agreement, and what shared act of obedience will you commit to do together in the next seven days?
Christmas is coming, and with it an invitation to give God our yes. Mary, likely a teenager with her whole life in front of her, said, “I am the Lord’s servant. Let it be to me according to your word.” That yes cost her reputation, comfort, and plans, yet it placed her inside the purposes of God where real favor flows. Joseph’s quiet obedience mattered too. God didn’t only have Mary’s yes; He had Joseph’s, and the destiny of Jesus’ earthly life moved forward on the power of two united yeses. Obedience rarely starts with all the details; it starts with trust.
God isn’t searching for perfect resumes. He’s looking for hearts set apart and surrendered. Scripture is full of imperfect people who said yes—Noah, Jacob, Moses, David, Peter, Paul—and God’s power moved through their availability. That’s the invitation: not to perform, but to align. I described the favor of God as the joy and fulfillment of walking in step with the Holy Spirit, seeing His purposes advance and lives changed by His supernatural work through us. When He has our yes, we begin to notice His hand clearing paths, opening doors, and multiplying impact.
But there’s a cost. A.W. Tozer wrote that if God sets out to make you unusually useful, He may use the hammer and chisel, not the manicure set. Surrender will be tested. Sarah and I lived that in a deeply personal way when the Lord asked us to say yes to another child—through fear, miscarriages, and a difficult pregnancy. Yet we watched God weave something beautiful on the other side of obedience.
There’s power in one yes, but there’s exponential power in two. Unity multiplies; disunity divides. The enemy knows this, which is why he tempts us to clutch our lives and say, “Mine, mine, mine.” Instead, we choose humility, agreement in prayer, and a posture of submission to God and one another. That’s why we commissioned deacons today—servants who help the church walk in order, unity, and mission. When a people live surrendered together, God adds His favor, and the world sees Jesus.
peter was an impulsive person and he denied christ yet he preached on the day of pentecost three thousand people give their life to christ and he and he really is steps forward as the leader of the of the church and paul was religious self-righteous even was wanting you know christians murder and then christ shows up and hewrites probably the biggest portion of the new testament mary wasn't perfect either okay but god used her to birth the savior of the world [00:47:31] (27 seconds) #GodUsesTheBroken
