Sermon Quotes

The Bible is largely the story of people being given things they cannot handle.

The people God uses seem to have remarkably little concern about how much suffering they would do as long as they had a cause worth suffering for.

Not only does God comfort us in our suffering, he then uses us to bring the comfort and healing and hope we receive to other people.

Shared pain creates a community that untroubled triumph does not.

If you have suffered a major hurt, you have a major gift to offer.

The question is not what I can handle; the question is what God and I can handle.

If you rely on yourself when it comes to death, death will probably win.

I believe there is a meaning to your suffering and that God never wastes a hurt.

One great illusion of suffering is thinking, "I'm the only one with problems; everyone else is doing great.

Don't let that wound go to waste. Then ask, "God, who might I be able to help this week?
