#FromHarmToGood
“``Life isn't always roses. There will be times in our lives where God might feel distant. There might be times in our lives where something might happen to us or to people we love, and we might have been living honorably, following God to the best of our ability, and it might be completely out of our control, and it might be completely and wholly caused by someone else. But God can use what was meant for harm, for good, to save. What might be meant for evil, god can use to bring good to save.”

#GodPresentInSilence
“And during this moment, we don't see the name of God used very much in the text, but God was using throughout this whole time what was meant for harm to bring salvation to the people. Although God might seem distant in your life sometimes, although God might have seemed distant to Joseph, Joseph's years in prison, he's there. He's there always. God's promises might sometimes seem like they're in jeopardy. God's promises might not seem like they're happening. It might seem like I am living an honorable life. I am following God to the best of my ability, and things just seem to keep getting worse and worse. If you haven't been there, you might at some point.”

#SavedThroughHarm
“The religious leaders and the Roman leaders had Jesus arrested, beaten, crucified. You have to imagine the followers of Jesus wondering, thinking in anguish. How could a good god let this happen? But god can make good out of what was meant for harm. Right? He can use what was meant for harm to save all of humanity through the resurrection. use what was meant for harm for good to save all people.”

#HopeInExile
“The people were taken away from their homes and had to live somewhere else. And the whole time, you have to imagine them saying, where is God in all of this? Right? When something bad happens to you, if you're a follower of God, you might be asking yourself, how could a good God do this? And I think this story is telling us maybe God didn't do it. Sometimes people hurt people. Right? Sometimes people hurt people. Maybe the real thing to hold on to is that God can make good out of what was meant for harm. And the people you have to imagine, the people in exile were holding to this and saying, maybe God is good and maybe God can use what was meant for harm for good.”
