But God also is merciful. God's word teaches us his true way of being is merciful. It is loving, and so he doesn't want to condemn us to hell. Even though he is just, so he sends his own son into this world to be born a man for you and me. God came for us. Yes, to live in this world as an example to show us how to live, but so much more important as a substitute. [00:39:07] (27 seconds)  #MercyInTheIncarnation

Every moment of his life, from conception into eternity, was in your and my place, living the perfect life that we don't, because the only way he would be a worthy sacrifice is to be absolutely perfect, and he was. And though tempted and beaten down by the pains of this world, he went to the cross for you and me, and there on that cross, he took all of our suffering. [00:39:34] (26 seconds)  #JesusLivedForUs

He took all of our shame, all of our grief, all of our pain, every mistake you've ever made, the really huge ones and the little tiny ones, the ones you are so ashamed of that you would never speak in public, and the little bitty things that you do over and over again, he took all of it, times billions, on himself at the same time, and suffered and died in a gruesome way. And at that death, the father even turned his face away from him, and he suffered hell, complete separation from the father. He did that for you and for me. [00:40:00] (34 seconds)  #JesusTookItAll

And then he rose from the grave and proclaims victory over your sin. He says, God loves you. And he says, I have redeemed you. I've overcome for you, and one day, I'm coming back. But between now and then, I pour out my spirit upon you through the power of God's word and in sacrament, I pour my spirit upon you so that you can have faith, so that you can share this gift with others. That is God's gift to you because he loves you, and it's right here in this book. [00:40:33] (37 seconds)  #RaisedAndRedeemed

And he has made you his child, and he puts his holy spirit upon you and says, I want you to represent me in this world. This book teaches all of those things, and we need to hear it over and over and over again. And it doesn't stop there, it empowers us to do something more, to go and do the good works he has for us to do. It teaches you. [00:43:05] (26 seconds)  #EmpoweredToServe

God's word teaches you that. God's word teaches you that you need each other, that we need to gather here, that you need to not just worship online, but come into the family of God, be part of the family of God. Show people your mistakes, and confess to them, and ask for help. God's word teaches you all those things. It teaches you that you get to carry the name of God in this world, that even though you are broken and messed up, he says, I love you so much. I'm gonna let you represent me in this world. You're gonna be my ambassador. [00:47:00] (29 seconds)  #CarryGodsName

There's no TV show you can watch that's gonna bring you more than this. There's no social media feed that you can blow through that's gonna bring you more than this. There's no other book that you can read that's gonna bring you more than what this has for you because these words, they're alive. They breathe life into you. [00:50:56] (20 seconds)  #LivingWordMatters

His word is for you. You don't have to wait around. You don't have to search for it. It's right there. It's it's right here. You know what? It's in your phone. You can get bible app after bible app, can get reading plans, things to help you, you can dig in, you can dig into this in the next thirty days and watch what it does in your life, but let God's word speak.
