“``That's why we can read about him today, friends. Listen. God's love is like the song says that we sing. It never gives up. It never fails. It never runs out on us. His love covers a multitude of sins. Not one sin, but a multitude of sins. As far as the East is from the West, God loves us. And if he could cover David and his mess, how much more can he do for you and your life? We first gotta acknowledge our need. Have you acknowledged your need for god? May maybe this has been a rough week for you. May or rough year, Rough weekend. I I've been there. I'm there. You cried out to god. God, god, I need you.”

“Listen. We cannot be helped if we don't acknowledge our need and seek help. My counselor therapist would tell me, he says, Derek, I'm a try to help somebody. He says, you are the only one that can tell someone what you need. I'm trying to help a marriage there. Y'all need to listen to that word. Nobody can read your mind. Nobody knows what's going on in your heart. You are the only person that can tell somebody what you need. Now listen. I didn't say God helps them who help themselves. That ain't biblical. Because sometimes you can't help yourself, and there's nothing that you can do to get to the place that you need to or get out of the place that you're in. All you can do is say, God help me. Church family help me. People I need help. All you can do is call out sometimes.”

“And listen. Listen. Listen. God doesn't allow brokenness and pain in our lives for us to see him as a vindictive God or a God that's out to get us, but the hope is that when you're stuck in the midst of those problems and trials and tribulations that come your way that that that in that space will come to the end of us. And in coming to the end of us, we'll learn to rely on him all the more. See, sometimes God allows hard things. Things that are too big in our life, I. E. Just the last six years, a pandemic that nobody could fix, or even the trial that you walk in today with, the things that are on your mind, the things that are in your heart. You're in this space where you can't figure it out. Sometimes God allows those spaces that are too big for you so that we can learn to depend on him.”

“God what are you doing? And you fast forward now. Now we got five kids y'all. Five kids. Pastor and planted this church that you're sitting in right now. New building. God has been good to us. Ministry has not gone just in Chicago, but I get to lead and pastor pastors all around this nation. I tell you that not to just toot a horn or anything of that matter, but to say that stay strong in the midst of the storm because you never know what God is doing. And listen, his faithfulness never ends. He does not change. David says verse eight says, the Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Your steadfast love, oh Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.”
