#ValleysHaveAWayOut
“``Maybe you're in a valley, but valleys have a way in, and they also have a way out. And it's important not to rush to leave however much it hurts. We don't wanna miss what he's trying to tell us. Personally, during one of my valley experiences, God showed me that he was there through the littlest of things. A cancellation brought up an appointment really quickly, and then a text message came with just the right words at just the right time. And in one of my other valley experiences, God showed me what mattered and what just didn't. He offered his perspective because I was too low to see from mine.”

#ShepherdInTheValley
“The author, King David, knew where God was. Where is God when this is your soul's geography? God is in the valleys. God is in the valleys. Jesus is our shepherd. He carries a rod to fend off our enemies and a staff to bring us back when we wander off. He's our protector and our guide in those very dark places. And yes, the shepherd leads us into places of refreshment and rest along the way, but they're not a place in which to languish. They're not places to stay forever. At some point, we need to get up and move again together with him. In this life's valley, God is notably present. It's almost as if we're holding his hand or clipping his heels. We're so close because it's scary and it's dark. He is there.”

#BeADoorOfHope
“I invite you to be like God's representative, like Moses, Elijah, and God himself in the person of Jesus. They went to the mountains. They stayed for a while, but they didn't stay forever. They came down again, and they did the job that they've been given to do, which is to tell the people of their experiences of the creator on the mountain. We can tell of our experiences with him in life's highs, but more importantly, we can tell of when he came through for us in the deep and scary lows. We can be a door of hope.”

#GoToTheMountainDaily
“Whenever he was troubled, tired, or in need of advice, he met with his father high on a hill. Jesus deliberately and regularly had intimate times of closeness with his father. It wasn't a a once in a lifetime thing. It was often and it was intentional. And he was modeling something very important in this. Many of us are Jesus' followers. Right? He expects us to do as he did and go to the mountain often, but not necessarily in hiking gear or boots and not necessarily on a a physical hike. We do this by praying, by reading his word, by being with him in times of silence and in times of solitude.”

#FromSorrowToHope
“Maybe this is you. God is in the valleys, and just like Elijah, he often talks to us in quiet little whispers. And as I said a minute ago in Hosea two fifteen, there is description of a valley called the Valley Of Achor or the Valley Of Sorrow. And I chose this reference for a reason. It relates directly to this place, the door of hope. Hosea was a prophet sent to deliver a message to Israel. The book describes the unfaithfulness of the people and the undeserved grace and restoration of God. Hosea's life was a metaphor for what God was going to do for Israel. He was about to take them into the wilderness, then to the valley of sorrow, and finally to the valley of hope, where he would restore the broken, unfaithful people to the good life once again.”

#YouCantStayOnTheMountain
“The mountains prepare and equip us. Let's move on. You know, it's great news that God meets us when we deliberately and intentionally put on the hiking boots or the apron and talk together. But maybe this is a bit unrealistic, and I really wanna be real here. We can't stay on the mountains, friends. We can't stay there. Sometimes despite our best efforts or through no fault of our own, we slide down rather than go up. Sometimes we find ourselves in a dark valley.”

#GodInEveryLandscape
“So whilst this is a a description of our local geography, this series that we are in is about our spiritual geography. It is about the geography of our soul. It's the journey we take. It's our spiritual journey through valleys, through hills, through mountains, deep crevices. It might take us to beautiful lush gardens. And everybody's journey is different, but we all go through different places within this geography, this spiritual geography. But there's one constant. No matter where you are, no matter what you're doing, whether you're a long while away or here, there's one thing that's constant in both internal and external geography, and that constant is God. Wherever you are, God is. God is in the mountains and God is in the valleys. And that's my focus for today, that God is in the mountains and the valleys.”

#GodMeetsOnMountaintops
“What I was going through is what I'll describe as a mountaintop experience. And here is the weird thing. This was a long time ago. I didn't know who god was. And it teaches me something. It wasn't me drawing close to God because I didn't know him. It was God drawing close to me. God coming down onto the top of a mountain. God meets us all on mountaintops.”
