God promises to meet every need we have, not just our surface desires but the deepest longings of our hearts. Whether we are facing financial uncertainty, loneliness, or physical challenges, we are reminded that God’s provision is rooted in His riches and His love for us. This assurance is not a blank check for every want, but a guarantee that in Christ, our true needs—love, acceptance, purpose, and strength—are fully met. When we trust Him, we can rest in the confidence that He knows what we need even before we ask, and He is faithful to provide in ways that are best for us. [13:42]
Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Reflection: What is one need you are carrying today that you can specifically entrust to God, believing He will provide for you in His perfect way?
Every person longs to belong, to be accepted, and to be loved with a love that never fails. In Christ, we find perfect security: we are in Him, He is in us, and He promises never to leave us. This security is not based on our performance but on God’s everlasting love and commitment. No matter what storms we face or how others may treat us, God’s love is steadfast, and He delights in us as His beloved children. When we truly grasp that we are fully known and fully loved by God, it changes how we see ourselves and how we live each day. [16:58]
Jeremiah 31:3 (ESV)
The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
Reflection: In what area of your life do you struggle to believe that God’s love and acceptance are truly unconditional? How can you remind yourself today that you are secure in His everlasting love?
Our culture often tells us that our worth is found in achievements, wealth, or recognition, but true significance comes from knowing we are created by God, bought with the price of Jesus’ sacrifice, and given a purpose to glorify Him. You are not an accident; you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God has placed you here for a reason. Your value is not determined by what you do, but by whose you are. As you live out your purpose—showing God’s character and love to the world—you reflect His glory and fulfill the calling He has placed on your life. [21:10]
Psalm 139:14 (ESV)
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Reflection: What is one way you can intentionally live out your God-given purpose today, showing His love and character to someone around you?
Many people go through life longing to hear that they are special, that they matter, and that they are someone’s favorite. God’s Word is full of reminders that He delights in us, rejoices over us, and takes pleasure in His children. No matter what others have spoken over you, God says, “You are my favorite.” He knows you intimately, celebrates your uniqueness, and surrounds you with His favor. When you listen for His voice, you will hear His delight and affirmation, which brings healing and joy to your soul. [31:51]
Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
Reflection: Recall a time when you felt overlooked or unappreciated. How does knowing that God delights in you and calls you His favorite change the way you see yourself today?
Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but God not only calls us to a purpose—He promises to strengthen and empower us to fulfill it. We are not left to our own resources; God Himself works in us, giving us the ability, courage, and perseverance we need. Whether you are facing a new challenge, a season of waiting, or a call to serve others, remember that God is with you every step of the way. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and He delights to help us accomplish what He has called us to do. [35:27]
Philippians 2:13 (ESV)
For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Reflection: What is one area where you feel weak or inadequate right now? How can you invite God to work in and through you, trusting His strength instead of your own?
This morning, gratitude fills my heart as I reflect on the journey God has led me through—serving alongside college students, celebrating nearly five decades of marriage, and witnessing the faithfulness of this church in supporting ministry and missions. The partnership between this congregation and the campus ministry at Kennesaw State University has been a source of encouragement and impact, from sending students to Jamaica on mission to nurturing young leaders who shine as lights in their communities. Today, we also pause to pray for our friends in Jamaica, trusting God’s sovereignty even as storms threaten, knowing He is both powerful and personal.
Drawing from Philippians, I see a deep connection between the story of this church and the church at Philippi—both rooted in places of transition, resilience, and purpose. Mableton’s history, like Philippi’s, is marked by change, growth, and a calling to be a center for the gospel. The legacy of this church, especially in equipping believers to share their faith, echoes the heart of Paul’s letter: that God supplies every need according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
At the core of our deepest needs are three longings only Christ can truly satisfy: security, significance, and strength. First, we all crave security—the assurance that we are loved, accepted, and never alone. In Christ, we are held with an everlasting love, promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. This is not a fleeting feeling but a foundational truth, rooted in God’s unchanging commitment.
Second, we yearn for significance. Our worth is not measured by achievements, wealth, or recognition, but by the reality that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, bought with the precious blood of Christ, and given a purpose to glorify Him. Our lives matter because we are designed by the Creator and called to reflect His character and love to the world.
Finally, we need strength—the power to live out our calling, to persevere, and to bear fruit. God not only gives us purpose but also works in us by His Spirit, empowering us to fulfill His will. Whether young or old, each of us is invited to join in God’s mission, knowing He will complete the good work He began in us.
May we live as those who know we are God’s favorites—deeply loved, eternally secure, and called to make a difference. Let us continue to support one another, invest in the next generation, and trust that God will supply all our needs as we walk with Him.
Philippians 4:19 (ESV) — > And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Jeremiah 31:3 (ESV) — > The LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV) — > For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
When you put your trust in Jesus Christ, he is the only one that you can be totally sure and secure in. This God, this Savior, this Jesus will never leave me. That gives us security. And it's not only where he is. We're in Christ. He's in us. We belong to him. We have his love, which is his total complete commitment. [00:17:13] (28 seconds) #UnshakableBelonging
We could not be more loved. We could not be more accepted. We could not be more secure. That's what Philippians is teaching us. He's given us a summary at the end. But all the way we can go through all of these scriptures and see. He's given us significance. [00:18:45] (19 seconds) #LovedAcceptedSecure
Your being here. You want to make a difference. And so. Here's what makes us significant. Number one. You are not an accident. Number two. You said something you believed in years ago. Well as much of our science teaches. You are designed and made. By the creator. Himself. You are made by him. The scripture says. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. And he has put you here. for this time and this place to accomplish his good work. [00:20:35] (31 seconds) #PurposefulCreation
But not only that, you're made by him. If you've put your trust in Christ, you understand, you are bought by him with the ultimate price of his son, Jesus Christ, the ultimate price that God could pay for you. That's what gives you your value. You've been paid for. You are bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in all that you do. [00:21:18] (24 seconds) #BoughtWithAPrice
Paul says, More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I've suffered the loss of all things and count them but rubbish in order that I may win or gain Christ and may be found in him not having a righteousness, righteousness of my own derived from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. And here, I think, is Paul's mission statement wrapped up in one verse, that I may know him. [00:24:07] (36 seconds) #MissionOfLove
He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows how bad we are. He knows how tears we shed. And he still says, you're my favorite. He who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with loving kindness and compassion, dances over you. He says, I am your, he, you are his favorite. It's a way of living in life. I found it a way of living in life. And I found that those who find that and hear that from him, it changes their life. [00:32:43] (36 seconds) #FavoredByTheFather
You are his favorite. That means he takes pleasure in, he delights in you. He loves you. He's fond of you. He's favorable to you for, and even when we sometimes feel chastised, he says for whom the Lord loves, he reproves even as a father, the son, in, who he favors and who he delights. Sometimes there's even chastisement for him, for us. [00:33:40] (32 seconds) #NeedsOfLifeFulfilled
So not only has he given us this great purpose in life, he says I'm going to work with you. He says I'm going to work with you, and be with you in this and strengthen you to fulfill that I desire for your life. The great runner Eric Liddell—he was the one who couldn't run on Sunday so went to the Olympics, he ran in a different race, he wouldn't run on Sunday because of his commitment to the Lord. He was gonna win that mile on Sunday but he ran a different race, I think the distance medley, and he still won that. But a reporter asked him, "Mr. Liddell, why do you run? Why do you run?" He said, "I run because when I run I sense the pleasure of the Lord." I want to encourage each one of you to spend some time with the Lord and let him show you his pleasure, let him rejoice over you, let him say you're my favorite. Because I believe if you will listen to him closely, sometimes you'll hear, "You need to straighten up, let's do this, let's take care of this," but for the most part you're gonna hear from him, "You're my favorite. I'm gonna strengthen you, I'll never leave you, and I'm gonna help you every step along the way." [00:35:27] (84 seconds) #GodEmpowersDisciples
