“And so today, as I look over to the land of Canaan, I think about the obstacles that lie before us. Remember that sea of reeds. I know that God who had made a way through the water will be faithful to finish what he began because god doesn't need a road to lead us. Sometimes he just makes one.”

“I'd seen it as a young man. I'd seen it in Egypt. I'd seen it in the sea. I'd seen it in the wilderness. And now I stand on the edge of this next chapter, this next season of life. I trust that god does not always lead us by the road that we would choose. But sometimes he leads us into the wilderness. Sometimes he leads us straight into the sea, and sometimes he brings us to places where there's no obvious way forward. And sometimes when there's no way, god makes a way. The question is whether we will trust him, whether we will remember what he's already done, whether we still believe that the god who rescued us from Egypt is still faithful when we stand before the giants.”

#WildernessMakesUs
“Because getting Israel out of Egypt is one thing, but getting Egypt out of Israel was another. Maybe that was what the wilderness was for. Maybe God wasn't just trying to get us to the promised land, but maybe he was trying to teach us something. Teach us how to become his people. A people who trust him, a people who remember, a people who can look at the impossible obstacle and say, god is faithful. God's got this.”
