Even when you feel boxed in by impossible circumstances, God is able to make a way where there seems to be no way. The Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea, the Egyptian army, and intimidating idols, yet God led them through the sea to freedom, showing that no obstacle is too great for Him to overcome. When you face moments that seem hopeless, remember that God specializes in deliverance and breakthrough, and He is present even in the darkest hour. [01:31:48]
Exodus 14:13-16 (NIV)
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life right now that feels utterly impossible? How can you invite God to make a way in that specific situation today, even if you can’t see a solution?
When you feel stuck or lost, the first step is to go back to what God has spoken over your life—His promises in Scripture and the prophetic words He has given you. Too often, we try to move forward on our own ideas, but God’s plan is already blessed and full of purpose. Take time to seek His voice, revisit His Word, and recall the instructions He’s given you, because His Word is the fuel that will carry you through every season. [01:36:21]
John 10:27 (ESV)
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
Reflection: What is one promise or instruction from God—either from Scripture or a personal word—that you need to revisit and hold onto today?
In moments of fear or discouragement, look back and remember the miracles and faithfulness of God in your past. Just as the Israelites were told to recall how God delivered them from Egypt, you can draw strength from your own testimonies of God’s provision, healing, and breakthrough. Recalling these moments builds your faith for what you’re facing now, reminding you that the God who delivered you before will do it again. [01:44:55]
Psalm 77:11-12 (NIV)
I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.
Reflection: Think of a time when God came through for you in a powerful way. How can remembering that story encourage you in your current challenge?
It’s easy to focus on threats and problems, but God is always at work—even when you can’t see it clearly. The Israelites missed the pillar of cloud and fire that was guiding and protecting them because they were fixated on the enemy approaching. Lift your eyes to see the evidence of God’s presence and activity in your life today—salvations, provision, answered prayers, and the simple blessings you might overlook. [01:48:35]
Exodus 13:21-22 (NIV)
By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.
Reflection: Where do you see God’s hand at work in your life or community right now, even in small ways? How can you thank Him for it today?
When you feel paralyzed by fear or uncertainty, God calls you to take a step forward—no matter how small. There is always something you can do: pray, worship, seek wise counsel, or simply obey the next instruction God gives. As you move, God meets you with His power and opens doors you never imagined possible. Don’t let fear keep you stuck; trust that God will make a way as you step out in faith. [01:52:14]
Philippians 3:13-14 (ESV)
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Reflection: What is one practical step you can take today to move forward in an area where you feel stuck, trusting God to meet you as you go?
Today, we gathered around the truth that God is the One who makes a way when there seems to be no way. Life often brings us to places where we feel boxed in—by circumstances, by the voices of intimidation, by the “gods” of this world, or by our own sense of failure and limitation. Just as the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea, the Egyptian army, and the intimidating symbols of human and spiritual power, we too can find ourselves in situations that seem utterly impossible. Yet, it is in these very moments that God’s power is most clearly revealed.
Reflecting on my own journey, I shared how our family faced a season of deep uncertainty and apparent dead ends—immigration issues, the threat of being uprooted from our calling, and the emotional toll of feeling stuck. In those dark nights, the enemy’s voice was loud, telling us it was over. But God was not finished. He led us, as He led Israel, to a place where only He could deliver. And He did.
From the story in Exodus, we see that God sometimes leads us into impossible places not to destroy us, but to display His glory and to remind us that our deliverance is not by our own strength, but by His hand alone. The Israelites were told to camp in full view of the intimidating fortress and the idol of Baal Zephon—not to cower, but to face down the intimidation of the world and to see that Yahweh alone is God.
When we are stuck, there are four things we must do: First, remind ourselves of what God has said—His promises in Scripture and the prophetic words spoken over our lives. Second, remember what God has done—rehearse the testimonies of His faithfulness in our past. Third, look at what God is doing right now—don’t miss the signs of His presence and activity, even in the darkness. And finally, move forward—take whatever step of faith you can, even if it’s just to pray, worship, or ask for help.
God is still the God who parts seas, who opens doors no one can shut, and who brings freedom where there was only bondage. No matter how boxed in you feel, He is able to make a way.
Exodus 14:1-16 (ESV) — > Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so...

Romans 10:17 (ESV) — > So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
But, see, God had actually led them to the place where the only thing that could rescue them was God. And you're going to discover very shortly through a story that I'm going to tell you that there are moments that we come to where there's no one on planet Earth that can rescue you. No situation, no money that can buy you out. It's only God that delivers you. Some of you in this place are in that place and it's just like, this is impossible. Go that way, I'm going to die. If I go that way, I'm going to die. If I go that way, I'm going to die. Everything's falling apart. Come on, you're in the best place because there is only one that can deliver you and He's here to rescue you here today. [01:30:33] (37 seconds) #OnlyGodDelivers
This is the problem in the kingdom of God that people are so Bible illiterate that they have no idea about what God has promised in their life. And so often what happens is in life, they come up with dreams, come up with ideas, they come to God and say, hey God, this is my idea, bless it. Wouldn't it be better for you to ask God what the plan is? Because the plan that He gives you will already be blessed. [01:35:29] (28 seconds) #GodsPlanFirst
No, no, no, the Bible says that my sheep will hear my voice and so if He's not talking to you, maybe it's because He spoke to you before and you never fulfilled that instruction. Why should He give you instruction number two or three if you've never done instruction number one? And so I find myself when God is silent to my world, maybe I just need to back up. What did you say? Oh, sorry, God. I repent. I do that and then instruction number two comes. [01:36:28] (25 seconds) #FuelYourFaith
So most of you in this place came to church today in a car. One thing I know about a car is that on a regular basis you have to go to what's called a petrol station and you're going to show up there and you've got to do it. I did it on the way to church this morning. I show up and you know what you do, you fill the tank up and that gives you the fuel that you need to be able to do the rest of your journey. And so this is what it's about. We've got to go to the Word of God because the Word of God is the fuel that you need to be able to do the journey that God has called you to. [01:37:57] (34 seconds) #FaithOverFear
And so faith is like the fuel but the fear is like water. And have you ever driven a car where there's fuel and water in the tank? I've had some pretty old cars in my earlier days and so water would get in there and moments where I didn't have a fuel cap and that'll be alright and after a bit of rain here in New Zealand it was it. Now what happens when there's water and fuel in the tank? The car splutters along. It's just it's just not smooth and many of us in this room at the journey of life can just be just not smooth it splutters here and the problem is because what we're trying to do is we're doing life with a bit of faith and a bit of fear come on if you have too much fear that engine is eventually going to stop. [01:38:56] (49 seconds) #NoExcusesForGod
So after months and months it was like seven months in total darkness middle of July that impossibility hey five six hundred thousand people apply only ten percent approximately may get it you got approved to stay legally in the country come on put your hands together in this place God makes a way when there's no other way.
