Fear paralyzes, but God redirects those willing to move. A parked car can’t be steered, just as a stagnant life can’t be guided. Wisdom isn’t about avoiding mistakes but trusting God’s ability to adjust our course mid-journey. When we step out, even imperfectly, we position ourselves for divine correction. Courage isn’t the absence of fear but the resolve to act despite it. Every small step forward is an invitation for God to recalibrate our path. [03:13]

Israel followed the ark into unknown terrain, trusting God’s presence preceded them. Indecision often masquerades as prudence, but delayed obedience risks missing God’s current movement. The Jordan River didn’t part until the priests stepped in. Faith isn’t waiting for a map but chasing the cloud of His presence. Stagnant faith fossilizes yesterday’s miracles. [25:14]

"When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God… you shall set out after it. However, there shall be a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it." (Joshua 3:3–4, NASB)

The table prepared “before” us implies God arrived early, turning adversarial spaces into stages for His provision. Fear focuses on the shadow; faith anticipates the meal. [33:54]

Sermon Summary

Deuteronomy 1:30 puts courage on solid ground by naming “the Lord your God who goes before you.” The God who went before Israel has not changed, and the God who fought for them in Egypt still goes ahead of His people now. Fear tries to dictate decisions with a safety mindset, but the Holy Ghost calls God’s people into strength and courage, not timidity and shrinkage.

Fear shrinks life. Fear shrinks dreams. Fear makes a life small and confined, when the blessing of Abraham points toward a great big life that can be a blessing. The issue is not that God’s people might make mistakes. The issue is that fear of making mistakes can keep a servant parked, and God is remarkably good at redirecting a moving servant.

Wisdom and fear are not the same thing. Fear looks for an excuse when an opportunity or obstacle appears. Wisdom looks for a way over, through, or forward. Foolishness is not being celebrated, because Proverbs and Jeremiah make clear that foolishness wrecks lives, but the cure for foolishness is wisdom, not fear.

A heart that belongs to God can move without being ruled by fear of loss. If a person is building a personal kingdom and seeking personal glory, the losses belong to that person. If a person is building God’s kingdom and God gets the glory, the losses belong to Him, and He covers mistakes. God does not expose a sincere servant’s mistakes as punishment. He covers them.

Psalm 139 shows that God is never surprised. David says God knows sitting down, standing up, traveling, resting, thoughts, words, and every place a person could ever go. Revelation’s picture of the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world shows that God’s redemptive love was moving before Adam ever messed up. The remedy was already in motion before the disease was announced.

The pillar of cloud did not follow Israel. Israel followed the pillar. The ark stepped into the flooded Jordan first, and the people had to move toward the water before the water moved. Indecision can be more dangerous than an imperfect decision, because yesterday’s glory land can become tomorrow’s wilderness.

Psalm 23 shows that the same God who makes His people lie down in green pastures also stays with them in the valley of the shadow of death. Circumstances can change, but God does not. The believer’s posture must change with the season. Rest in green pastures is faith, and walking through the valley is faith too, because God is already preparing the table on the other side.
