“I want you to really think about that one. Not just that I follow Christ when it works for me. Not just I'm willing to follow Jesus so that everything in my life goes really well, but I look at Christ and say, he is worth it no matter what. I'll even experience failure and defeat in order to achieve the victory that comes from Christ. Count the costs. If you've heard a gospel that says following Christ won't cost you, it's a false gospel. It's free, but it'll cost you.”
61s
“Listen, that was a false hope. One that was never there or one that could be taken away. But listen, Jesus has brought the victory, and we have a living hope in him that can never be taken away. So even right now, you might be defeated, but we have a better future, a better resurrection. Right now, because Jesus is alive, you have a better verdict if you believed him through faith. You're not the sum of what you've done or what you haven't done. If you believe in faith in Christ, the world is not worthy of you if you're following him. That's the verdict that matters, the one from God.”

“Which leads us into our big truth this morning. If we could put this text into a sentence, it's this. God's eternal victory gives me faith to endure present defeat. God's eternal victory gives me faith to endure present defeat. Yes, we are fighting a battle we've already won. No matter what comes our way, we can over come, but not every day do we feel like an overcomer in Christ, even though that's our reality, isn't it?”
