Joseph begins as a stranger in a strange land, and even the people closest to him do not like him. Potiphar’s house develops discipline, because a man who cannot be trusted with temptation in one house cannot be trusted with power over a kingdom. God prepares Joseph not only to hold authority, but to use authority for reverence instead of revenge.
