Do you know there are just three stories in the Old Testament of resurrections? Just three. And they're all from the time of Elijah and Elisha. And of course, this is one of these three. And why are they there? They all point forward to the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to the glorious hope of triumph over death that is ours in him. [00:28:35]

The woman loved God. And because she loved God, she was drawn to Elisha because he walked with God. Now, you see the application of that to us. If God is not much to you, then fellowship with his people won't be much to you either. Any company will do. But if you really love God, you will find that you are drawn towards other people who really love God too. And that was true of this woman. [00:06:44]

As there was a cross for Jesus, so there will be a cross for you. And as there was a resurrection for Jesus, so there will be a resurrection for you. [00:33:58]

Why do the godly suffer? God's providence is a mystery. All that we know is that the godly do suffer. That this too is within the purpose of God. And that one day God will wipe away all tears from our eyes. [00:19:33]

And if you are in Christ today, you are greatly blessed. Whatever hardship you may be facing today, whatever disappointments you may have had in your life, whatever loss you may have experienced, if you are in Jesus Christ, you are greatly blessed. [00:12:15]

What a wonderful picture that is of what the Lord Jesus Christ does for us. He breathes new life into us by his Holy Spirit. And by a miracle of God's grace, the eternal life that is in him becomes ours. [00:30:50]

God has set his love upon you. God sent his son into the world for you. God's Holy Spirit lives within you and he is always working for your ultimate good. [00:12:37]

Elisha surely was a great man of God, and God worked through him in extraordinary ways. But the emphasis of the story is not on Elisha's strength and power, but on Elisha's limitations and on Elisha's weakness. The hero of the story is God himself, not Elisha. Elisha is dependent on God. [00:20:49]

God sometimes allows his servants to fail in something that we thought would succeed. And he does that so that we will know and we will remember that we are utterly always completely dependent upon him. [00:24:19]

Do you know when sorrow comes and some of you know this from your own experience when sorrow comes there can be a condemning voice that sounds off in your head and it says I must have done something wrong for this to happen. [00:18:52]

Now take this into your heart. It will be helpful to you. However wise, however discerning, however godly you may be, there will be some things that you will not understand because God has not chosen to reveal them to you. [00:22:15]

And in Christ, you have the most glorious future. Ahead of you is a neverending life of unclouded joy in the presence of God and in the company of all of his redeemed people. All this is yours. [00:12:54]

Now you see, she's saying, "Well, God has given us this this home. How can we use it in a way that honors God? How can we use it in a way that brings blessing to others?" [00:07:51]

God had blessed this lady richly and she wanted to be a blessing to others and one way in which she was able to do this was to open her home and to give hospitality to the prophet Elisha. [00:04:48]

God has not given me all that I would have wanted in life. There are some gifts that other people enjoy and that I don't, but God has blessed me and I am content. [00:10:18]
