39s
“That every person who comes here is a revelation of what God means when God says church, of what God intends when God says good shepherd. It would mean that because every person is a gift, every person is welcome. Because every person is a gift, every person has a place. Because every person is a gift, every person is wanted and treasured and useful in our mission.”
38s
“It would really mean rethinking church. Church is something we do together, something we do together because God has equipped us, gifted us to do. Thinking about what God is accomplishing here and what I have to do with that and what you have to do with that. It would mean that because every person is an act of God, that every person has something to teach us about what God is like and what God wants.”
64s
“The way God does this is by giving these amazing gifts to various people who come together to make one body, one mission, one church. They're not all the same. They come together like parts of a body. They might have individual identities but come together only to be healthy when they do it together. So I might be able to see in you. Your friends might be able to see in you. You might be able to say in yourself some very ordinary things. Something about your history, your resume, your personality type, your willingness to serve, your ability to lead and follow. But what I need to learn to see, what we need to learn to see together is not what you have done or what you already are, but what God is doing in you.”
