#JesusPlusTrap
“``I am guilty of this. And as a pastor, as a business leader, I have seen this time and time again. We really love Jesus plus. Jesus plus finances, Jesus plus relationships, Jesus plus marriage, Jesus plus the house, Jesus plus the toys, Jesus plus. And you can fill in the plus that we really love finding the Jesus plus moments. I will feel good when it's God and what I want. And we have this beautiful work of the divine God that shows us time and time again that when we put something with God, God will do what God does and remind us that it is him and him alone. That does not mean we do not also receive finances and relationships and community and connection. It does mean that if that is anything above God's standard, it is not in line with the relationship God wants.”

#BecomingInWaiting
“It is this compounded essence of a word that says this is the only thing to focus in on. This is it. Surely, God is my refuge. Surely, God is my fortress. Surely, thy salvation comes from him. David is inviting us into a deeper revelation of our own heart here to go, what is it that I might have in place that God was speaking very loudly? And I'm not hearing because there's something else going on. Waiting on God is not about what you get, it's about who you become in the waiting. Waiting on God is not about who you what you get, it's about who you become in the waiting.”

#TransformationInChrist
“The fact that God defeated death and sin and invites us into freedom means that we get to step into a relationship that is consistently about him and not us. That transformation in us is what Christ consistently wants to call us to. Regardless whether you're 12 to 82 in this room, you are in transformation. Nobody is there yet. And the reminder of David in Psalm 62 is our hope, our salvation, our rest is in God. It is not in the things that we think we want. No matter how pleasing and fun that, like, quick delivery from Amazon is. It is about what Jesus himself is doing.”

#TrueRestInGod
“Really? The only way we find salvation and trust and did not be shaken is on God and God alone. Again, we love our stuff. We're not patient enough to let maybe God move those muscles in us, and what we find is, hey, I will have peace when I know I've got the financial security. I will have rest when I get my sleep app scored. That's a subtle dig at Neil. He's teaching membership class. He can't snap back at that right now. He will later, though, when he watches this. That we want security when things go our way. There's something about the idea that I when it the David writes, truly my soul finds rest. When was the last time you felt rested internally? Not just like you had enough sleep, but like you actually there's an inner peace, regardless of what's going on, you felt rest.”

#SixtySecondPause
“wanna invite you to consider something. Where in sixty seconds in your day or your week could you pause and just reconnect with what God's up to in your world? How many sixty second moments could you possibly take? Just go, hey, God, I want to trust in you. I want to rest in you. I want to find my fortress in you. I will not be shaken in you. How many sixty second moments would you love to grab?”

#ResurrectionChangesEverything
“Coastline, I think there's moments in our world that we think we know the best next step, and it's often a great guess. And how often are we aligning what that next step we desire to be with what God may also want for us? I believe that the resurrected Christ is sovereign and supreme and can see for all eternity he's the infinite God who created the world, who created me, created you. And the fact that he he rose from the dead, this is great moral content. This is great life instruction. But the recording in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and the echoes of Paul, that the Christ child not only died for our salvation, but rose from the dead changes everything.”

#NeverBeShaken
“If you have the bible in front of you, I don't care if it's a pew bible, or, if you have your digital bible, underline never. Highlight it. If you're on your bible app, it's really funny. Can just hold it and then click it, select a color. No show of hands, but, for how many of you is this true today? That you'll never be shaken. Because you trust that the fortress, the person of God, the relationship with Jesus you have is so secure that nothing can shake you. I cannot. There's so many things going on in my head right now. But, man, what would it look like if I if I actually experienced the resurrected Christ in such a way that I would trust that I would never be shaken?”

#GrowPatienceMuscle
“Waiting often equals patience. And I don't know about you, but for me, I can only speak for myself, that when I'm wanting when I'm wanting God to move, I am not very patient. I want it done now. I want it done my way. One of the things that, I actually loved the season of my kids learning how to tie shoes because what did dad get to do? Not have to do, get to do. Let them learn. I there are moments in my world where when I think back to the where I've grown the muscle of waiting, where I've grown the muscle of patience, where I've grown the muscle of being dependent on God. It often is allowing me to take away what I want to have done when I want to have it done and I trust that God is who he says he is.”
