“Friends, God always acts first. We listen because God listened to us. We follow Jesus because Jesus follows the father's will. We love solely because the holy spirit within us gives us power to respond to the one who loves us first. What a wonderful gift. What a great responsibility. May we find strength and courage to walk the path God has set before us.”

“In other words, Moses eventually listened to God through that burning bush, which is often the only part we remember. But it was really God who listened first. God heard the cries of his people and took the initiative to reach out and save them. Our response is to listen for how God might be speaking to us. How is he calling us to meet the needs of his people? The pain and suffering may look different today than it did in ancient Egypt, but it is still there. The lonely and oppressed cry out, and God listens.”

#JesusChoseObedience
“Jesus could have chosen a different path, one that did not lead to the cross. But instead, he followed. He followed God's plan. He followed the road that led to his destruction and the salvation of all humanity. He had the will and the power to go his own way, but he chose to follow instead. We are by no means perfect like Jesus, but like Jesus, we are all tempted to go our own way, to claim our own autonomy.”
