46s
“That's what it means to have faith. To believe in God does not simply mean to believe that he exists like it's a a fact in your head. James, two nineteen reminds us that even the demons believe that God exists, and they shudder at that knowledge. That's detached head knowledge. But demons do not have faith. They do not trust in God in that vulnerable, self involving way that the Bible speaks of faith in.”

“You see the direct connection? until that day, in those dark moments of struggle when God seems absent, his voice silent in your life, fear surrounds you and hope leaves you. Look hard at Jesus. Emmanuel, remember, whose very title is a promise that means with us. Ask god to make the doubts of your present to become the forges that produce in you the fire of faith.”

“I'll paraphrase what God is saying here. He's saying, I've been speaking to you all along. That voice you've heard, that was me. There are no other gods but me. For centuries, I've summoned Israel to seek me. Though you have run from me, I have pursued you, and I will keep pursuing you and will not stop until I have destroyed what keeps us apart and have healed your wounds. It's a declaration of the eternal will of God to reconcile. Though we hide ourselves from him and stopped our ears from hearing his voice, He has spoken, and he has not hidden himself from those who want to find him.”
