56s
“So the God given control, he has given you that control. Therefore, let's obey. The area that he's given you influence, you need to have exercise wisdom. And the things that you can't control, you just have to trust the Lord. And what I mean about that is, of all of your resources of time and energy, emotional bandwidth, where are you going to invest that? Do we invest it in the things that we can't control? That would be an unwise investment. Do we invest it in the things that we can control? That'd be a wise investment. Do we invest it in things that we might be able to influence for the kingdom of God? Sure. But we wanna do it in a discerning way, and we wanna steward it well.”
45s
“Okay. So what are things that we cannot control? Some things that we cannot control are on slide 16. And those things are other people and their choices. You can't control other people. You can't control the future. You can't control the past. You can't control economic situations or national events to include politics, whether others approve of us, and we can this and this one's tough. This one's tough. You cannot control the outcome of your efforts. All you can control is your effort. You cannot control the outcome of your effort.”
36s
“Expect that people are going to insult you. Count it in honor when it happens. It's tough, but that's what the word of God says. Proverbs twenty nine twenty five, why is that so important for us to not worry about and not with something that we can't control? Because if we do, the fear of man will prove to be a snare. A cat it's a trap for but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. We don't wanna fall into that trap of thinking of worrying about what other people think about us.”
46s
“when we talk about not being able to control other people and their choices, Again, beyond beyond the scope of this morning, but it's unhealthy to even try and do that. Influence, yes. Control, no. It's fine. It's godly to try and influence people in the right direction. To try and control them or manipulate them is ungodly and unwise. Scripture refers to it as witchcraft, as a matter of fact. So we wanna stay far away from trying to control and manipulate other people or control and manipulate God. Not that you've ever done that or that you could.”
