“``We're going to stop believing that God is withholding something from us. That sin will satisfy us. That we know better than our creator. We're going to stop trying to hide and justify things that we know are wrong. We're going to stop listening to the voice of the enemy who has come to steal, to kill, and to destroy. And we're going to turn more fully into following the good shepherd who laid down his life so that we could have lives in abundance. No matter how uncomfortable, how inconvenient, no matter how even painful it may seem, we will choose to be formed by God's word, to live into what is true, and to follow Jesus as he leads us on the path of being fully alive.”

#ChooseTruthOverSin
“Sin may look good in the moment. It may look appealing, but it always leads to destruction. It always leads away from the life of being fully alive that Jesus has come to give us. And so if we're going to reject the lies of sin and deception, if we're going to be fully alive, then we need the truth because life begins when we live in the truth. Life begins when we choose truth over the lies. Jesus tells us himself in John eight that his disciples will know the truth and the truth will set us free.”

#GodIsGoodTrustHim
“The greatest lie the enemy tells is that God is not good, that God is not worthy of our trust. It is this lie that is the root of all sin, of all other actions that we may do. We see the beginnings of this lie in the serpent's first word to Eve. When the serpent plants the seed of doubt of did God really say that? And did God really mean what he said? Is God really worthy of being trusted? And then in these latest words from the serpent, this lie is taken even further. These words the serpent said are meant to leave Eve into doubting God's goodness. Eve is made to feel like God is withholding something good from her that she deserves.”

#BeliefsShapeActions
“And yet all of these sins, all of this disobedience goes back to the lie that God is not good, that he is not worthy of our trust. Because all sin begins with believing a lie. What we believe matters because it affects everything else we do. And we believe what and when we believe what is wrong about God, then this leads us to acting in a way that does not honor him. When we buy into this first lie that God is not good, that God is not trustworthy, It makes it easier for us to be deceived further and further by the enemy, so we walk more and more away from God.”
