#CommunityIsEssential
“``Community is a felt need, and it's a a need we were created for. We live in America. It's very popular to be independent. It's very popular to not need much. It's it's very, there's plenty of verses we can find where we need to be responsible, and we can look out for for those who are in more need than us. However, that was never to replace community. Community, which is a discipline and a joy of the Christian life. Community is a felt need, and it's so important. Many of us believe it should be there for us. Many of us believe it should be there for us, and without it, we feel bitter. It's a human right like clean water or food. But the truth is, community just doesn't happen automatically. The longing isn't, it isn't just found, it is fueled. It has to be fueled.”

#UnityThroughSpirit
“Talk about a warm community. If you've ever gone somewhere where you don't know the language, it is hard to feel at home. And that first person that speaks to you in your language, whoo, that is a warm community. That feels good. They heard the gospel. They worshiped. They were visited by this rushing wind that sent the spirit to them where they were all united. The spirit of god came to them bringing unity, worship, and the birth of a new church.”

#GenerosityBuildsBelonging
“This love, this exciting sharing, it doesn't mean it doesn't come with some sacrifice. Because warm feeling, it was fueled by sacrifice too, by a committed sacrifice. People were sharing what they had. They were giving to others, knowing it wasn't theirs to begin with, understanding that Jesus would care for their needs. And when I think of a place of true belonging, of community, it usually is because someone understands generosity. Someone there understands generosity, whether it's time, space, their car, a living room, a house, themselves, a listening ear, somebody who's available.”

#ShareInCommon
“But not everyone could bring the same food. Martha's over here getting drunk and eating rolls, and poor Samantha or Sam has nothing. Right? He has his crust. This is not a community. This is not the community Jesus had in mind. It literally, Paul had to tell them, if you're gonna party, go home. Shut your doors. Don't do it in church where some people are poor and starving. It's not the right place. And so Paul has to rebuke them. This was not community. There was such a disparity. This wasn't being together. If they're hungry, go party at home. Go have your feast there in the comfort of your home. But when we're together, we are together. We hold things in common. We celebrate mutually. There's no hierarchy in the kingdom of god.”
