Day 1: Trusting in Divine Timing
Joseph's life is a profound illustration of trusting in God's perfect timing. Despite the numerous challenges he faced, from being sold into slavery by his brothers to being unjustly imprisoned, Joseph never wavered in his faith. He understood that his struggles were not meaningless but were preparing him for a greater purpose. This perspective allowed him to remain hopeful and patient, even when his circumstances seemed bleak. Trusting in God's timing means believing that He is working behind the scenes, orchestrating events for our ultimate good and His glory. It requires us to look beyond our immediate situation and hold onto the promises that God has made, knowing that they will come to fruition in His perfect time. [12:30]

"For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay." (Habakkuk 2:3, ESV)

Reflection: In what area of your life do you struggle to trust God's timing? How can you actively practice patience and faith in this area today?

Day 2: Living a Blessable Life
Joseph's ability to forgive, serve, and maintain his integrity was key to his ability to receive God's blessings. Despite the injustices he faced, he chose to live righteously, which kept him in a position to be blessable. This concept of "blessability" is crucial for experiencing the fullness of God's promises. Our actions and attitudes can either invite or block God's blessings in our lives. By choosing to forgive those who wrong us, serving others selflessly, and maintaining our integrity, we align ourselves with God's will and open the door for His blessings to flow into our lives. Living a blessable life means making choices that reflect God's character, even when it's difficult. [16:48]

"Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out." (Proverbs 10:9, ESV)

Reflection: Is there an area in your life where your actions or attitudes might be blocking God's blessings? What steps can you take today to align yourself with God's will and live a blessable life?

Day 3: Embracing the Struggle
Just as a moth needs the struggle to fly, our struggles prepare us for the purposes God has for us. Joseph's life exemplifies this truth, as his trials were the very things that equipped him for his role in the palace. Embracing the struggle means recognizing that our challenges are not obstacles but opportunities for growth and development. It is through these difficult times that we become stronger and more resilient, ready to fulfill the roles God has planned for us. By embracing the struggle, we allow God to shape us into the people He created us to be, equipped for the good works He has prepared in advance for us to do. [22:56]

"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness." (James 1:2-3, ESV)

Reflection: What current struggle in your life can you view as an opportunity for growth? How can you embrace this struggle and allow God to use it to prepare you for His purposes?

Day 4: Generational Blessings
Joseph's story is a powerful reminder that our faithfulness can lead to blessings for future generations. God's promise to Joseph was not just for his immediate benefit but for the benefit of his descendants. This concept of generational blessings highlights the impact of our obedience and faithfulness on those who come after us. Whether we are first-generation believers or part of a legacy of faith, we have the opportunity to initiate a legacy of blessing through our actions today. By living faithfully and obediently, we can reverse curses and set the stage for God's blessings to flow through our family line for generations to come. [24:01]

"But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments." (Psalm 103:17-18, ESV)

Reflection: How can your faithfulness today impact future generations in your family? What specific actions can you take to initiate a legacy of blessing for your descendants?

Day 5: Staying Faithful in Adversity
The key to reversing curses and experiencing God's blessings is to stay faithful, even when it's challenging. Joseph's unwavering faith and integrity allowed him to transform the curses in his life into blessings, not only for himself but for his entire family and nation. Staying faithful means holding onto God's promises and remaining obedient to His will, regardless of our circumstances. It is this faithfulness that positions us to receive God's multiplied blessings and live a life that reflects His goodness and faithfulness. By staying true to God, we open ourselves up to the fruitfulness that He desires for each of us. [35:19]

"Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV)

Quotes

1. "I didn't sign up for this. That is our sermon series. We're wrapping it up today. I hope that you've been enjoying the series. I've gotten a lot of great feedback on this series. Thank you for some of you. Some of you said you whacked me between. The eyes each and every week. And I appreciate it, Pastor. I appreciate it. So I hope that you have been enjoying that. You've been following along in the story of Joseph. We have been discussing a lot of his story. We've seen that God has elevated him from the pit to the prison and now to the palace. From the pit to the prison to the palace. And God has been protecting him and guiding him all along the way. Now he is in the palace and God has put him in position of power to literally save the world. The world at that time was starving. It was not doing well. And so God was using him." 2. "Over the past several weeks, we've been in our story, we've been talking about the life of Joseph and the many things that he has had to overcome. One of those things in week one, you might remember that he had to overcome his dysfunctional family. Don't raise your hand if you had one of those, but maybe you've had to overcome yours. I said, don't say anything. This is between you and God right now. He overcame unfair circumstances. Any of you ever had that happen in your life? It's just unfair. He overcame his abandonment issues. He overcame his enemies, both foreign and domestic. Literally, his domestic family was after him, wanted him killed, and he overcame that. I mean, think of the psychological. Warfare that would have happened in this man's mind while he's sitting in prison for a crime he didn't commit, being sold off into slavery by his brothers." 3. "And yet, despite his many challenges, he had learned in his life how to reverse the curse. I want you to say it with me. Reverse the curse. I hope today that through the stories, we wrap up our story. We wrap up our story. We wrap up our story. We wrap up our story. We can learn how to reverse the curses in our own lives. I've got three thoughts for you today if you're taking notes. Number one, we reverse the curse by trusting in God. Kind of basic, but kind of important. We reverse the curses in our lives by trusting in God. Look at Genesis chapter 46." [00:07:13] (42 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

4. "Joseph knew how to hang in there. He hung in there through the rejection of his family. He hung in through 13 years of prison for crime he didn't commit. And he did all of this without someone having his back. I mean, it's one thing to be able to have a buddy that's with you, that you're, you know, like Daniel and the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They were a little posse. They were standing up to power by themselves. But Joseph was all by himself. Joseph was in a land that he didn't know anybody, and nobody knew him. He was a common slave. And the Bible tells us that he was there in prison alone. It's unfair." [00:10:03] (47 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

5. "I think sometimes we can condemn the unfairness of our circumstances and determine that God has forgotten all about us. Maybe you're here today, and you look back at the past of your life, and you look back at things. You say, God, where were you? Where were you during the abuse of my childhood? Others of you, God, why can't I get a breakthrough? My whole life feels like struggle. God, why did that person do that to me? And we ask these questions of God, and when we don't get the answers that we believe are satisfactory, we conclude that God is disinterested because he's not helping me." 6. "But I want to caution you today, if that's the line of thinking that you're going down, because as we look at the life of Joseph, we see that if he'd have stopped in the pit and said, God, I'm giving up, or he'd have stopped, in prison, God, I can't take it anymore, he would have missed the palace. Some of you here today may be tempted to give up, but you need to understand that you're in the pit, you're in prison, God has a palace, and it may be one or two steps away if you'll just hang in there. You see, we might need to shift our thinking a little bit. God hasn't forgotten me. Perhaps God is preparing me." [00:11:39] (43 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

7. "Joseph could have held on to his hate and destroyed his enemies, but instead he forgave. And he allowed his, instead of allowing his brothers to starve to death, he blessed them. I mean, think about that. And Joseph didn't know it yet, but he actually in his actions was getting the heart of Jesus. Bless those who curse you. Church, I hope you're getting this because what we're, what we're looking at is a man that knew how to receive the blessings, the blessing of God. Why? Because he was obedient to the Lord. Obedience and blessing are often tied together. Even though he was going through unfair trial, harsh issues, the Bible teaches us that he, even despite those things, he was blessing others. He was becoming blessable." [00:18:06] (54 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

8. "Faithfulness is the blessability factor that leads to fruitfulness. Let me say it again. Faithfulness is the blessability factor that leads to fruitfulness. Did you know that God wants to make each and every one of you fruitful? God wants to shower and pour out his blessings of fruitfulness in your life, but it comes through faithfulness. That's the blessability factor. but pastor, I've been struggling and I've been praying and I've been asking God and I'm not hearing from God in my tests. And to that, I would say to you, sometimes, if not all the time, the teacher is silent during the test." [00:19:20] (43 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

9. "The story of a man that found a cocoon and in the cocoon, there was a moth. It was called an emperor moth. Maybe you've seen them before. They're beautiful moths. They've got the pretty big wings and he was seeing this moth, this baby moth and it was trying to get out of the cocoon and there was a hole in it and it was struggling and it was trying to get out of the cocoon. It was pushing and it was trying and it couldn't get out and he watched for hours this moth fight and struggle to get out of the cocoon and then the moth just stopped. And he thought, well, he can't get out. I'm gonna help him. And so he took some scissors and he cut the cocoon open and the moth came out, except the moth came out kind of with a bloated body and short little tiny wings." 10. "God may not take away your troubles and your struggles, but I got good news. He's always with you in the middle of them. He's always with you in the middle of your struggle and he wants to restore you and make us better and stronger than we were before. So don't quit, church, in your struggles. Don't quit. God wants you to reverse the curse by staying true to him and he also wants you to reverse the curse by remaining blessable. And lastly today, we reverse the curse through multiplied blessing. Through multiplied blessing. Genesis 48, verse 4." [00:23:01] (47 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)
