one you do well even the demons believe and shudder they said you believe in God good job so do the demons okay I I just want to I want to ask you this flat out like what puts you above a demon right now what what puts your commitment level I mean think about your life right now how are you different from a demon cuz you could come here and you can check off the right things you would take that theology test and go man I believe that but guess what the demons in Hell believe that in fact the Bible says and they shudder see some of you aren't even to that point the Bible says in in Psalm 111:10 it says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom so even the demons are A step above you in that at least they fear they scared when they hear that name they're just not just going Yahweh Yahweh we love to shout your name it's like Yahweh there's there's like a trembling they shudder it's not just a reverence it's just like man I know who he is that's the beginning of wisdom see my concern is there may be some of you that know about him you believe in him but you don't even fear Him there's others of you maybe you know enough about about him to where you fear Him and it's like okay great now you're at least equal you're not below the demons at least you're on par with them but then there's others of us man we love him like he's everything to us and that's what we were praying for this morning is I'm I'm I'm willing to bet that 99% of you you would say you believe in God and many of you would say that you fear Him and maybe even 99% of you would say that you you love him but I wonder if that's just honoring with your lips you know and would your heart really say that and would God say that and I remember it's maybe not an appropriate illustration but that's never stopped me um I remember okay this is going way back back way back to when I was single sorry honey before you um when my life was miserable and um I was dating this girl um Debbie and uh who was nothing compared to you thank you that I'm not with her and um but I remember you know and I was dating um some other people just you know cuz I didn't I wasn't real serious but I thought you know what I think I like Debbie more than the others and uh and I thought you know what tonight I'm going to take her out I'm going have this perfect little date at the end I'm just walk her to the door and I'm going to tell her that I love her and I remember everything went great you know laughing fun of course you know and she with me and uh I get to the door and I like hey Deb um I just want to say uh I love you you know like that look had all planned out right it was just smooth and um and because that wasn't something I just say to whoever it's just every once in a while and uh and she looked at me and she started to laugh she just went she goes you love me I like yeah and she started to laugh again she she looked at me she goes You Love Me okay you love me then why'd you go out with Tammy last night and if you love me then she started had she had like this whole list like do you even know what it means to love someone it means you put their desires above your own like you care about them more than you care about yourself and you're going to say that you love me I was like I don't even like you right now you know but but you know it didn't things didn't work out but the whole point was it was it was funny and on my head here I am but she was right it's like I didn't love her I had some sort of feelings or whatever else and and I think sometimes we can say things with our lips and you probably you can sing songs and prayers and oh God I love you I love you I love you with your lips but I just wonder how often does God just kind go okay yeah you love me you haven't talked to me all week I see how much time you spend with him him her I see the time you spend with your kids I see the way you long for this this this this and you love me that's why Jesus says look if you love me you'll obey what I command that's why he says you no one says I know him if you if you know me and you don't obey my commands he goes you're a liar that's what first John says it's like you know I just it was it was an eye opener go man we sometimes are quick with our lips oh I love him oh I love him oh I love him and I'm just saying what would God's response be like well yeah obviously you wake up in the morning talking about me thinking about me you go to bed at night telling me how awesome I am I can tell you love me it's our actions it's what we do during the week I just I don't want our words to be cheap and maybe some of you guys didn't grow up in the church and so you're not used to that but some of you I've noticed growing up in the streets as you're quick to speak also and say Grand things like I love him way more than every single thing it's like man do people see it in your life like you adore him you love him and and the reason why we're on our knees you know uh for you guys during the week and the reason why we're praying for you this morning is we can't make that happen it's like I can tell you again that there's a Creator up there a Creator and every time I'm like sweating like this you know where it's just roasting hot outside and I want to complain like it's too hot you know what what I always think is that sun right there is 93 million miles away right now okay there's a ball of fire 93 million miles away if it was 92 Million Miles Away we would feel hot okay this is not hot but instead of complaining I worship and go God that's a that's insane that you would make a ball of fire put it 93 million miles away while we're flying around it at 67,000 miles away and I dare say it's a little hot I know it's pretty amazing I tell you there's a creator of all of that a Creator who made us all for his glory and all of us who are these created beings like pulled off pinched off job says from a lump of clay and fashioned and made by him for his glory and so many of us don't even think about him and we rebel against him we live our own lives we're made for a purpose and yet we just want to do our own thing and we're supposed to love him the Bible says the most important command is not just believing in him but loving him with all of your heart all your soul all your mind and all your strength think that's it's your whole being it's not just knowing stuff about him but it's about knowing those things and having it deep within the core of who you are and just saying God I love you and understanding that we've rebelled against that God man does anyone want to come up here and just share every sin that in their lives that no one knows about yet God knows all of that and we've rebelled and done things he created us as these moral beings who know right from wrong it's in us and we can try to say all day I'm a good person I'm a good when you go to bed at night you know what you've done doesn't matter what you hide from the rest of us doesn't matter you don't put it on Facebook it's like God sees it all not just the image you portray he sees it all and we deserve his his wrath we've been reading about that in Isaiah and yet he says look I made you and I love love you but I'm a perfectly Fair God and I must punish my creation when they're wrong when they've sinned but here's what I'm going to do I'm going to love you like no one else I'm going to demonstrate I'm going to show that little Earth that I made that's flying around that sun that I made I'm going to show them love like no one's ever seen I'm going to demonstrate by having my son who did nothing wrong who knew no sin I'm going to have him pay for every one of you I'm going to watch him as he's begging me is there any other way I'm going to say ah I'm not going to take this cup from you I'm going to have you pay for all of their sins man that that those of us who really trust in him is that type of trust when you get it and we love him because he loved us first and you enter into that relationship he says he's knocking on the door and I don't want you just to believe some facts about me I want to know you I want you to know me I've opened the door of access to me and I think Jonathan mentioned that just we have access to him now that's an amazing thought Karima mentioned it in her prayer it's like wow we're telling you and you're listening to us and to us it's like there's no words for that I can't believe it I love him so much I get to know him and it's bigger than all of this he says when you come to that point of belief I'll put my spirit in you when my spirit God's spirit enters into you it's like man he dwells with me he lives with me I've got this relationship and I guess the reason why we prayed is we just wonder have any of you experienced I'm not saying it's going to be like me you know I was a kid you know a camp and I'm just going God why did I get it why did you open my eyes at such a young age to love you is it because I didn't have a dad it's because I didn't have a mom is it because I don't know your story may not be like nor is mine's not like Norah's you know where I felt something you know and and and felt his physical touch or I I I don't I just know that at the core of who I am it's like man I love him I I I love him I don't just do good stuff I don't just try not to do the wrong thing it's like there's something there something deep there there's a verse that uh I want to share it's uh Matthew 10:37 he says whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me this is Jesus Matthew 10:37 picture Jesus saying that to you what does that mean to you when Jesus looks at you and says look if you love your mother or father more than me you're not worthy if you love your children more than me you're not worthy that the Creator is saying I want you to love me with all your heart all your soul all
