Day 1: Surrendering Control to Experience God's Love
True transformation begins with surrendering our lives to God. When we let go of our own control and allow God to work in us, we experience His love and grace in profound ways. This surrender is not a one-time event but a daily commitment to trust in God's plan for our lives. Surrendering to God means acknowledging our limitations and recognizing that His ways are higher than ours. It involves a conscious decision to let go of our fears, anxieties, and desires, and to place our trust in His perfect will. This act of surrender opens the door to experiencing the fullness of God's love and grace, which can transform even the most broken aspects of our lives. [01:15:42]
Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV): "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you find yourself holding back from surrendering to Jesus? What would surrendering this area to Him actually look like in terms of daily habits?
Day 2: Embracing God's Relentless Love
Even in our darkest moments, God never gives up on us. His love is relentless, and He continually reaches out to us, offering hope and redemption. Our past mistakes do not define us; rather, God's grace and forgiveness provide a new beginning. This understanding of God's relentless love can be a source of immense comfort and strength. It reminds us that no matter how far we may stray, God is always ready to welcome us back with open arms. His love is not conditional on our actions or worthiness but is a constant, unwavering force that seeks to draw us closer to Him. [01:18:48]
Psalm 139:7-10 (ESV): "Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me."
Reflection: Think of a time when you felt distant from God. How can you remind yourself of His relentless love and presence in your life today?
Day 3: The Importance of Community in Restoration
Being part of a supportive Christian community is vital for spiritual growth and restoration. When we surround ourselves with fellow believers, we find encouragement and accountability, which help us stay focused on our journey with God. A community of faith provides a safe space to share struggles, celebrate victories, and grow together in Christ. It is within this community that we can find the support needed to overcome challenges and remain steadfast in our faith. The shared experiences and wisdom of others can be a source of strength and guidance as we navigate our spiritual journey. [01:19:02]
Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV): "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
Reflection: Who in your Christian community can you reach out to for support and accountability in your spiritual journey? How can you also be a source of encouragement for them?
Day 4: Learning from Peter's Restoration
Like Peter, we may falter in our faith, but God's grace allows for restoration and renewed purpose. Our failures can become testimonies of God's faithfulness and His ability to use us for His glory, even after we have stumbled. Peter's story is a powerful reminder that our mistakes do not disqualify us from being used by God. Instead, they can become opportunities for growth and deeper reliance on His grace. Through God's forgiveness and restoration, we can find renewed purpose and strength to serve others and share our testimonies of His faithfulness. [01:20:18]
Luke 22:31-32 (ESV): "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers."
Reflection: Reflect on a time when you felt you failed in your faith. How can you use that experience to strengthen and encourage others in their spiritual journey?
Day 5: Putting Faith into Action
Faith without works is dead. It is essential to actively pursue our relationship with God and take steps toward healing and growth. This involves reaching out for help, engaging in spiritual disciplines, and allowing God to work through us to impact others. Putting faith into action means living out our beliefs in tangible ways, whether through acts of service, sharing our testimony, or simply being a light in the lives of those around us. It is through these actions that our faith is made alive and becomes a powerful witness to the transformative power of God's love. [01:22:10]
James 2:17-18 (ESV): "So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith and I have works.' Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works."
Reflection: What is one specific action you can take today to live out your faith and demonstrate God's love to those around you?
Sermon Summary
In this heartfelt message, I shared my personal journey from despair to redemption, emphasizing the transformative power of God's love and grace. My story began with a life of addiction and hopelessness, culminating in a suicide attempt and a near-death experience. It was during this dark period that I encountered God's relentless pursuit of my heart. A pivotal moment came when I attended a church service and surrendered my life to God, experiencing His overwhelming love and acceptance. This marked the beginning of my spiritual journey, where I learned to rely on God's strength rather than my own.
Despite experiencing a profound transformation, I faced setbacks when I took my eyes off God and returned to old habits. This led to a period of relapse and shame, but God's grace never left me. Through the support of a Christian community and a renewed commitment to God, I found restoration and purpose. I was reminded of the biblical story of Peter, who denied Jesus but was later restored and strengthened to serve others. This narrative resonated deeply with me, as I too experienced God's forgiveness and a renewed calling to share my testimony.
Today, I am involved in a ministry that helps others struggling with addiction, offering hope and healing through the love of Christ. My journey is a testament to the power of God's grace to rebuild and restore lives, no matter how broken they may seem. I encourage others to reach out for help and to trust in God's ability to transform their lives.

Sermon Clips
I attempted suicide in Hollywood, Florida. I got off the bus, man, I just said that's it. So my father, I was living with him, he said, "Why don't you just die? You're miserable, look at you." And I tied a host of a car and boom, next thing I know it is a badge pulling me out of my car giving me CPR. [01:14:30]
I called him up and he invited me to a church just like this on a night like this. They had an altar call and I hit that off the head on altar rail whole church. I hit it so hard I broke it, boom, and they said they prayed for me that night, man, and I just let it go. [01:15:28]
I remember I was going to the self-help groups back then and they had a step it was called turn your will in your life over to the care of God. Well, I did that that night. That was the one step BAM, and God lit me up. I don't know what he, he just poured into me. [01:15:42]
Many years later I left kind of everything and just stopped doing the basics and that's all added those take my eyes off of God for a minute and I sunk like a rock. My wife divorced me, I wound up back on drugs, back in New York City before I knew it. [01:17:50]
The minute I went back to that neighborhood and I trusted the drugs rather than the Lord, he came in, the devil came in and tore me to shreds. And I wanted the homeless in the Bronx and I took a massive shot of heroin and my heart stopped. [01:18:19]
I came all the way back to California. I didn't know who to turn to. I was too ashamed to go to my Christian Brothers here. I knew people at the horizon in San Diego. Mike always loved me. Pastor Chuck knew who I was. He knew of my ministry. I had a ministry singing ministry. [01:18:48]
I said, "Pastor Tom, I'm ashamed. I'm a Christian and I'm dying. I don't know who to turn to." And pass the time as a little interview room and it's a picture of this man Jesus holding a man up that can't even stand up and the guy's got a nail and hammer in his hand. [01:19:02]
I got on my knees. I said, "Dear Lord, I love you. I'm sorry, forgive me. All I want Lord back is your peace in my life. That's all I wanted back. I lost everything, people, places, and things." And you know what he did? He put me back on the potter's wheel. [01:19:42]
He gave me a verse about being in ministry from Luke 22:31, and that became my marching orders. And Jesus was talking to Simon. He says, the devil has requested to sift you like wheat, Simon, but I prayed for you that your faith won't fail so when you're restored strengthen your brothers. [01:20:18]
He rebuilt me and today I share that message all over the world. You know where I'll be tomorrow at 8:30? Would you please pray for me? I'll be in a 120 degree heat and Ironwood State Prison. I hope I don't melt like butter fat. [01:21:00]
God wants me to share my testimony. Last Saturday I was in Arizona State Prison doing the same thing in 110 degree heat. So God's ramping it up. Maybe he wants me to get on a diet, I don't know, but he doesn't want me to share my testimony. [01:21:29]
If you know somebody here tonight, pray for them. Take this little card off my table right in the lobby there, put it in their hand and say here's a place you can get help. Don't do anything else. Maybe if they need a ride to get down to the program, okay, but don't give them no money. [01:22:10]
