From Darkness to Light: The Power of the Gospel

Devotional

Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

The essence of Christianity is a transition from darkness to light, made possible by God's grace. Salvation is a gift, and it is God who qualifies us to partake in the inheritance of the saints. This transformation is not of our own doing but is entirely the work of God. [00:02:08]

Men and women are not thanking God tonight for his great salvation because obviously they don't realize they haven't realized what is necessary before we can be made fit and qualified to enter into their inheritance to enter into this kingdom of God in the light. [00:06:40]

The whole trouble is due to men's ignorance of their real state and condition by nature. This not only accounts for the failure to understand the gospel in its character, this rarely accounts for the whole state of this world at this very moment. [00:07:49]

Christian is a man who has been delivered. All who are not Christian have not been delivered. Men by nature is in the power of the grip of the power of darkness. Now then what is this? Well, this is not something in the psyche. This isn't something that can be explained along those lines. [00:21:17]

The power of darkness is a spiritual reality that holds humanity in bondage. It is characterized by confusion, disorder, and rebellion against God. This power is not merely psychological or social but is rooted in the spiritual realm, under the dominion of the devil. [00:21:12]

Jesus Christ is the only one who can deliver us from the power of darkness. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He has conquered the devil and offers freedom to all who believe. This deliverance is a translation into the kingdom of light, where we are empowered and protected. [00:42:15]

In Christ, we are given light, knowledge, and a relationship with God. We are no longer under the power of darkness but are part of the kingdom of God's dear Son. This new life in Christ is marked by righteousness, truth, and the assurance of eternal inheritance. [00:49:59]

The devil keeps us in the dark about the real truth concerning God. He says you will never be turned out to this garden, don't believe that it's not true, but out they went and they can't get back. The flaming sword and the cherubim are there prohibiting a return. [00:37:43]

The power of darkness is not a kingdom but a power. The devil is a usurper; he has no right at all. He's a rebel, one who has taken authority unto himself. He never was given this authority; he was never meant to rule over man and to tyrannize over him. [00:28:39]

The power of darkness is a capricious power, a contradictory power. That's always characteristic, isn't it, of somebody who's a usurper? You see, he's got no system. All he's interested in is the exercise of power, and all tyrants are capricious. [00:30:44]

The power of darkness is a dark power. It darkens the mind; in other words, it keeps us in the dark. It creates mists, it creates confusion, it creates muddle, it produces forms, intellectual and other fogs. That's the sort of fog and mist that he creates in the realm of the mind. [00:34:35]

The power of darkness is a terrible power that every man that ever lived is not as puffy in its ends. We are all weak and we're all helpless. The fact of the matter is that we all of us by nature are nothing but slaves and slaves of this power of darkness which is so powerful. [00:32:47]
