God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. This truth means that when we invite God into our lives, we step out of confusion, secrecy, and spiritual blindness into clarity, honesty, and hope. Walking in the light brings us into true fellowship with God and with others, and it is only in this light that we can experience real transformation and forgiveness. If we try to live in darkness—hiding our struggles or pretending to be fine—we miss out on the cleansing and intimacy that God offers. The invitation is to let His light shine into every part of our lives, trusting that He will lovingly reveal what needs to change and give us the grace to walk in truth. [36:05]
1 John 1:5-7 (ESV)
"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."
Reflection: Is there any area of your life you’ve been keeping in the dark? What would it look like to invite God’s light into that place today?
Jesus is not just a helper or an insurance policy for the afterlife; He is the anointed King who wants to rule and guide your life right now. When we treat Jesus as King, we move from living for ourselves to living under His loving authority, experiencing the inheritance and blessings of His kingdom in the present. This means surrendering control, letting Him “drive the car” of our lives, and trusting that His leadership is better than our own. The transformation comes not from religious rituals or good works, but from making Jesus the true King of our hearts and daily decisions. [41:00]
Colossians 1:12-13 (ESV)
"Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son."
Reflection: In what practical way can you let Jesus be King over a specific area of your life today, rather than just a helper or backup plan?
When facing temptation, struggles, or habits we can’t break, the example of Jesus and the teaching of Scripture is to turn to God’s Word. Memorizing and meditating on specific verses that address our struggles brings real change, as God’s truth renews our minds and equips us to overcome. This is not about self-help or willpower, but about letting the living Word of God shape our thoughts, words, and actions. Whether it’s anger, fear, addiction, or any other challenge, God’s Word is a powerful tool for correction, encouragement, and victory. [46:43]
2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."
Reflection: What is one struggle or habit you want to see changed? Find and write out three Bible verses that speak to it, and commit to memorizing one this week.
When Jesus is truly King in our lives, He gives us a peace that the world cannot offer. This peace is not dependent on circumstances, news, or our own efforts, but is a gift from Jesus Himself. Even in the face of uncertainty, loss, or fear, we can rest in the assurance that nothing will happen outside of His loving care and provision. The Lord is our light and salvation, so we have no reason to be afraid; His peace guards our hearts and minds, freeing us from anxiety and worry. [57:02]
John 14:27 (ESV)
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
Reflection: What is one fear or anxiety you are carrying right now? How can you surrender it to Jesus and receive His peace today?
God has a perfect plan for your life, one that is far greater than anything you could ask or imagine. Even when we make mistakes or feel unworthy, God is able to redeem our story and do immeasurably more than we expect. His faithfulness is not based on our performance, but on His love and power. Trusting Him as King means believing that He can provide, guide, and open doors in ways we never thought possible. No matter your past or present, God’s plan for you is filled with hope, purpose, and blessing. [59:44]
Ephesians 3:20 (ESV)
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,"
Reflection: Where in your life do you need to trust that God’s plan is bigger than your own dreams or limitations? What is one step of faith you can take today to align with His purpose?
Life is full of moments that feel like “jump points”—those times when everything changes in an instant, and you find yourself in a new place, sometimes by choice, sometimes by circumstance. Looking back, I see how God used one of those moments to rescue me from a life of darkness and bring me into the light. My story began in a religious home, but for years, faith was just a ritual, something done out of obligation and fear, not relationship. I searched for meaning in all the wrong places—through meditation, drugs, and reckless living—only to find myself more lost than ever.
But God, in His mercy, orchestrated a series of events that led me to a Bible study where, for the first time, I heard that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. That truth pierced through my confusion and pride. I realized I’d been driving the car of my life blindfolded, making a wreck of things. That night, I surrendered and asked Jesus to be the King of my life. From that moment, everything began to change—not because I became perfect, but because I was no longer alone in the darkness. Jesus, the true King, took the wheel.
Over the past fifty years, I’ve learned that Jesus is not just a spiritual “insurance policy” for the afterlife. He is the anointed King who wants to lead us now, transferring us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. When we walk in His light, we begin to see ourselves and our world differently. We recognize that many of our struggles are spiritual at their root, and that real transformation comes not from self-help or willpower, but from letting God’s Word soak into our hearts and minds.
Walking in the light means making better decisions, experiencing less fear and anxiety, and discovering that God’s plans for us are far greater than anything we could imagine. Even when we stumble, the King is faithful to forgive, restore, and guide us back onto the right path. My life is living proof that God can do immeasurably more than we dare to ask or imagine. If you’re still in the darkness, I encourage you: let Jesus be your King. He is faithful to rescue, forgive, and lead you into the light.

Colossians 1:12-14 (ESV) — > Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
John 14:27 (ESV) — > Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
So, that's how you, you, you. have something that you're ashamed of or you've got a friend that's willing to share with you something they're ashamed of and you want to help them over the hump, bring the scripture. It's how our king modeled it and that's how we can overcome it. [00:51:45] (18 seconds) #OvercomingWithScripture
The psalmist David, he wrote, he said, The Lord is my light and he's my salvation, why should I be afraid? See, there's nothing to be afraid of when the king's driving your car. There's nothing, nothing's going to happen that he's not going to allow, that he hasn't made some provision for. Right? [00:57:10] (19 seconds) #PeaceBeyondTheWorld
Jesus is quoted as saying, listen, I'm giving you, I'm leaving you with a gift. This is very close to his crucifixion. He says, I'm leaving you with a gift. I'm leaving you with a gift of peace of mind. He said, and the peace I give, CNN can't give you. Fox News can't give you. The Blues can't give you. MSNBC can't give you. Nobody's going to give you the peace I give you. So don't be troubled and don't be afraid. Right? [00:57:34] (28 seconds) #GodsPerfectPlan
My final thought, though, is the thing that moved me the most when I watched that television show two weeks in a row back in 1975 is the man looked and he said, God has a perfect plan for your life. He has a perfect plan for your life. Now, I did everything I could to screw it up, but ultimately when he bailed me out, I made that, I went through that jump point, and I asked him to be my king. But he says, he has a perfect plan for our lives. [00:59:29] (34 seconds) #ImmeasurableGodPower
If you're not there yet, for whatever reason I want to encourage you get on your Lake Doster Road before the midnight bell hits and ask him to be the king of your life. To drive the car of your life. And he's faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness and straighten a lot of monkey business out. [01:02:47] (19 seconds)
