Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 5 put two identities together for every disciple of Jesus. Christ makes a person a new creation, not through self-fixing, shame, or trying harder, but through reconciliation that comes from God. The old has passed away, the new has come, and failure can be brought honestly before the Lord without carrying guilt into the next day. Grace does not excuse sin, but grace creates the freedom in which God changes what a person wants.
Paul also says that God gives this new creation a ministry and a message of reconciliation. Christ’s ambassadors do not fix people, because they cannot even fix themselves. Christ’s ambassadors represent the One who can bring life, mercy, and freedom to people living for themselves. A passionate disciple therefore spends time in Christ’s presence, finds freedom by surrendering sin and struggle, and lives on mission by making disciples where life already happens: where they live, work, and play.
Jesus’ picture of the kingdom in Mark 4 gives a simple pattern called the four fields. The empty field asks where disciples will be made and who God may already be preparing. The harvest prayer, drawn from Luke 10:2, turns a workplace, a gym, a home, or a coffee shop into a harvest field: “Lord, open my eyes.” A person of peace may reveal himself through the “knots” in life, the place where things are not going well. Prayer in that moment, followed by faithful care and patience, plants seeds without trying to force growth.
The gospel field answers what to say. A disciple tells two stories: “my story” and “His story.” Christ’s work in a real life creates a natural invitation to read through the life of Jesus, grab coffee, or join a group. Rejection need not produce fear, because Jesus already says to shake off the dust and keep going.
The growth field feeds people in the short term while teaching them to feed themselves in the long term. Scripture, questions, and simple tools such as GPA, what does this teach about God, people, and application, build disciples who can open the Bible with someone else. “Deep is as deep does.” Depth is not complexity or knowledge for its own sake; depth is simple obedience.
The harvest field eventually sends disciples out to make more disciples. Kingdom over comfort means releasing people instead of keeping a comfortable Bible study together forever. Christ’s ambassadors make room, commit time, and decrease so that others can increase into leaders.

Key Takeaways
- 1. New creation comes before mission [00:33:41] Christ makes disciples new before He sends them out. The ministry of reconciliation flows from reconciliation already received, not from anxiety about earning God’s approval. Grace gives a person room to bring sin into the light and walk forward without shame. A disciple who forgets freedom will eventually treat mission like another burden to carry. [33:41]
- 2. Ambassadors represent, not repair, people [00:37:19] The ambassador’s job is not to straighten out somebody else’s life. Christ alone reconciles enemies to God and changes hearts from the inside out. A faithful representative can pray, listen, tell the truth, and point toward Jesus without carrying the impossible weight of being someone’s savior. That humility keeps love from becoming control. [37:19]
- 3. Harvest fields begin with open eyes [00:45:54] The harvest field is often already present in ordinary places: homes, jobs, gyms, and friendships. The harvest prayer asks God to reveal people of peace and give courage for the moment He opens. Patience matters because field one can last years, and God does not rush seed into grain. Faithfulness begins by seeing familiar spaces as places where God is already at work. [45:54]
- 4. Scripture questions create self-feeding disciples [00:54:52] The growth field does not merely give people material to consume. Simple questions about God, people, and application train a disciple to hear and obey Scripture personally. A disciple who can open the Bible, ask honest questions, and apply what is read can help another person do the same. This kind of depth reproduces because it is practiced, not merely admired. [54:52]
- 5. Kingdom over comfort sends people out [00:57:41] The harvest becomes costly when a close group must be released into new fields. Comfort prefers keeping familiar people nearby, but the kingdom calls disciples to prepare others to lead. John the Baptist’s words, “I must decrease, he must increase,” name the needed surrender. Multiplication begins when disciples stop measuring success by attendance and start preparing others to go.
