Five Lessons for a Transformative Spiritual Journey
Devotional
Day 1: God's Love as Our Foundation
Understanding that God loves us as much as He loves Jesus brings profound security. This assurance is foundational to our faith and helps us navigate life's uncertainties with confidence. It is a truth that transforms our relationship with God, allowing us to approach Him intimately and with trust. Starting each day by acknowledging this love and addressing God as "Dad" fosters a deep sense of belonging and peace. This practice of expressing love and gratitude without asking for anything in return nurtures a heart of worship and strengthens our spiritual walk. [05:12]
"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him." (1 John 3:1, ESV)
Reflection: How can you intentionally start your day tomorrow by acknowledging God's love for you, and how might this change your approach to the day?
Day 2: The Daily Bread of God's Word
Beginning each day with God and His Word sets the tone for a life of spiritual growth and victory. The Bible is not just a book but a love letter from God, and meditating on it daily provides guidance and strength for every situation. This practice is essential for building a strong spiritual foundation, offering answers and wisdom for life's challenges. By immersing ourselves in Scripture, we align our hearts with God's will and equip ourselves to face the day with His perspective and strength. [10:54]
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105, ESV)
Reflection: What specific time and place can you set aside each day to read and meditate on God's Word, and how can you make this a consistent habit?
Day 3: The Freedom of a Clear Conscience
Maintaining a good conscience is crucial for spiritual integrity. Acts 24:16 emphasizes the importance of keeping a blameless conscience before God and men. This involves confessing sins immediately, seeking forgiveness from those we've wronged, and forgiving others who have hurt us. A clear conscience ensures that we remain in right standing with God and experience His peace. It liberates us from guilt and shame, allowing us to live freely and authentically in our faith. [19:30]
"So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man." (Acts 24:16, ESV)
Reflection: Is there someone you need to seek forgiveness from or forgive today to maintain a clear conscience before God and others?
Day 4: Trusting God's Sovereignty
Trusting that God controls all circumstances and works all things for our good brings peace in trials. This understanding helps us face challenges with faith, knowing that God will not allow us to be tested beyond our ability. It is a perspective that empowers us to live victoriously, confident that every situation is an opportunity for growth and transformation into Christlikeness. Embracing this truth allows us to rest in God's sovereignty and find hope in His perfect plan. [26:41]
"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." (Proverbs 16:9, ESV)
Reflection: What current challenge are you facing that you need to trust God with, and how can you remind yourself of His sovereignty in this situation?
Day 5: The Power of Humility
Remaining humble and dying to self is essential for receiving God's grace. Jesus taught us to learn gentleness and humility from Him. Practicing these virtues, especially in difficult situations, ensures that we overcome sin and live in victory. Humility opens the door to God's empowering grace, enabling us to fulfill His purposes. By choosing the way of humility, we align ourselves with God's heart and become vessels of His love and grace to others. [31:13]
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you." (James 4:10, ESV)
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to practice humility today, and how can you actively choose to die to self in this situation?
Sermon Summary
In reflecting on the journey of 65 years since being born again, I have learned five profound lessons that have shaped my spiritual walk. These lessons are not just personal insights but are rooted in the Scriptures and have been tested through years of ministry, particularly among the poorest villages in India. The first lesson is the assurance of God's love. John 17:23 reveals that God loves us as much as He loves Jesus. This truth brings immense security, especially in a world filled with uncertainties. It is crucial to start each day by acknowledging this love, addressing God intimately as "Dad," and spending time in worship without asking for anything, just expressing love and gratitude.
The second lesson is to begin each day with God and His Word. The Bible is not just a book but a love letter from God, and it is essential to meditate on it daily. This practice has provided answers to every situation I've faced and has been the foundation of my spiritual growth. The third lesson is to maintain a good conscience. Acts 24:16 emphasizes the importance of keeping a blameless conscience before God and men. This involves confessing sins immediately, seeking forgiveness from those we've wronged, and forgiving others who have hurt us.
The fourth lesson is the understanding that God controls all circumstances. Romans 8:28-29 assures us that God works all things for our good, which is to make us more Christlike. This perspective helps us face trials with confidence, knowing that God will not allow us to be tested beyond our ability. Finally, the fifth lesson is to remain humble and die to self. Jesus taught us to learn gentleness and humility from Him. Practicing these virtues, especially in challenging situations, ensures that we receive God's grace, which empowers us to overcome sin.
These lessons are not just theoretical but have been lived out in my life, bringing spiritual prosperity and transformation. I encourage you to embrace these truths and experience the abundant life God has for you.

Sermon Clips
"Assurance of God's love is very, very important. I'll tell you, if you are assured of God's love the way I want to show you here in John 17:23, for many people, their favorite verse in the Bible is John 3:16, 'God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.' It was my favorite verse for years until one day God opened my eyes to see John 17:23, which told me the last part that the Father loves me as much as he loved Jesus." [00:03:39]
"Begin your day with God and His word, and by the grace of God, I've tried to follow that for 65 years. From the time I was converted, I began to read the Bible every day in the morning. I had a room in the naval base, and so I would get up, kneel down, pray for a few minutes, maybe 15 minutes or so, and get up and take my Bible and sit at my table with a notebook and read it." [00:09:54]
"Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Amen. Man shall live. So if your life has not come up to the level of what God wants you to, it's because you have not taken every word in God's word. Who is to blame? I see God has taken the trouble through the years to write a book for me, and I can't say that I love him if I don't take that seriously." [00:12:09]
"Keep a good conscience always. In Acts of the Apostles, in chapter 24 and verse 16, this is Paul's testimony. I want to read beginning in verse 15, Acts 24:15. It says here in the last part of verse 15, 'I have this hope in God there will certainly be a resurrection of the righteous and the wicked.' Now we all know that there're going to be two resurrections: the resurrection of the righteous and the resurrection of the wicked." [00:15:10]
"Know that God controls all my circumstances. That's a great lesson that's been for me. Turn to Romans in chapter 8 and verse 28. We read there that God makes all things work together for good to those who love him. But it doesn't stop there. The good is mentioned in the next verse. He predestined us to become conformed to the image of his son." [00:24:25]
"Remain humble and die to yourself. Matthew 11:29, Jesus said there's only these two things he told us to learn from him, not how to preach, but learn from me, for I'm gentle and humble in heart. What am I supposed to learn from Jesus primarily? Gentleness and humility. That's it. I may not be able to sing; some of you may not be able to preach. It doesn't matter." [00:28:01]
"God is opposed to the proud, but he gives grace to the humble. If you don't know that verse, it's one of the most important verses to know. The devil's opposing us, our flesh, our lusts in our nature are opposing us. On top of that, if God also opposes you, brother, there's no hope for you. And it says here God will oppose anyone who's proud." [00:29:54]
"Sin will not rule over you if you are under grace. If you're not under grace, sin will rule over you. And it's because people have not received grace. They've got grace for forgiveness of sins, but that's it. There's a lot more grace than that. Sin will not be master over you if you're under grace." [00:31:13]
"God is in control of everything. And finally, the last thing I would say, number five, remain humble and die to yourself. Matthew 11:29, Jesus said there's only these two things he told us to learn from him, not how to preach, but learn from me, for I'm gentle and humble in heart." [00:28:01]
"God will never allow you to be tempted or tested beyond your ability. So don't ever say that temptation is too strong for me. If it is strong, he'll give you grace because he's always said, 'My grace is sufficient for you.' So I've been tremendously helped by this. I believe I can look into the entire future and say I will never, till now, till Jesus comes, I will not be tempted by any situation which I cannot handle." [00:26:41]
"Always remain assured of God's love. He loves you as you love Jesus, and don't be frightened because of circumstances. Number two, begin your day with God and His word always. And number three, keep a good conscience always. Number four, know always that God is in complete control of circumstances. All authority in Heaven and Earth belongs to him." [00:33:24]
"Take up your cross every day and follow me. Most Christians do not know what that means. It just means recognize that in Christ, I've been crucified with Christ, like Paul said, and I choose that way of death every day. 2 Corinthians 4:10 says always bearing in our body the dying of Jesus. That way you will be an overcomer every single day because you choose the way of death." [00:34:25]
