Life without God becomes draining, no matter how much we achieve, acquire, or entertain ourselves; our souls remain restless and unsatisfied when we seek fulfillment in the things of this world alone. The endless pursuit of more—whether through technology, entertainment, or accomplishments—leaves us emotionally and spiritually exhausted, echoing Solomon’s words that “all things are wearisome.” True rest and satisfaction cannot be found in what we consume, but only in the One who created us for Himself. [01:01:47]
Ecclesiastes 1:8 (ESV)
“All things are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.”
Reflection: In what area of your life do you find yourself endlessly seeking more—be it entertainment, possessions, or achievements—yet still feeling empty? What would it look like to pause and invite God into that space today?
Earthly pleasures and distractions may offer temporary relief, but only Jesus can truly satisfy the deep thirst of our souls; He offers living water that becomes a wellspring within us, bringing lasting fulfillment and peace. Like the woman at the well, we often try to quench our spiritual thirst with things that cannot satisfy, but Jesus invites us to drink deeply from Him and experience a life that overflows with His presence. [01:11:32]
John 4:13-14 (ESV)
“Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’”
Reflection: What “wells” have you been turning to for satisfaction that leave you thirsty? How can you intentionally turn to Jesus today to receive His living water?
Entertainment and busyness, even when not sinful, can become weights that distract us from God’s purpose for our lives, slowing our spiritual progress and keeping us from running our race with endurance. The enemy may not always destroy with obvious sin, but he is content to distract us with endless screens and activities that numb rather than nourish our souls, pulling us away from the mission God has for us. [01:17:37]
Hebrews 12:1 (ESV)
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
Reflection: What is one distraction—perhaps even a good thing—that you need to lay aside this week so you can better focus on God’s calling for your life?
Joy and fulfillment are not found in what we consume, but in who we connect to; choosing connection with God over constant consumption leads to fullness of joy and pleasures that last forever. Instead of filling every empty moment with scrolling or entertainment, we are invited to seek God’s presence, where our souls are truly refreshed and made whole. [01:25:42]
Psalm 16:11 (ESV)
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Reflection: The next time you reach for your phone or another form of entertainment out of habit, can you pause and spend a few moments in prayer or worship, seeking God’s presence instead?
When we stop chasing empty entertainment and instead fill ourselves with worship, the Word, and prayer, God becomes a wellspring of life within us, satisfying us from the inside out and freeing us from dependence on the world for fulfillment. As we say no to lesser things and yes to God, we experience the abundant life Jesus promised, living in the overflow of His Spirit. [01:31:36]
John 7:37-38 (ESV)
“On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”’”
Reflection: What is one practical way you can “fill the well” today—through worship, reading Scripture, or prayer—instead of turning to empty distractions?
Today is a day of gratitude, celebration, and reflection on the deep longing within every human soul. Gathering together, we lift up the name of Jesus, recognizing that He alone is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving. We rejoice not just for what God has done, but for who He is—our King of Kings, our Redeemer, and the One who has adopted us into His royal family. As we dedicate young lives and celebrate family, we are reminded that children are a blessing, not a burden, and that our community is called to nurture and support one another in faith.
Turning to the Word, we confront a profound truth: in a world overflowing with options, entertainment, and endless scrolling, our souls often remain unsatisfied. Solomon, in Ecclesiastes, speaks of a weariness that comes not from work, but from emptiness—a burnout of the soul that no amount of achievement, acquisition, or amusement can fill. The eye is never satisfied with seeing, nor the ear with hearing. This is the human condition apart from God: we are stimulated but not satisfied, busy but bored, consuming but never content.
Jesus, in His encounter with the Samaritan woman, offers a different kind of fulfillment. He promises living water—a wellspring within that quenches our deepest thirst. Earthly pleasures and distractions may offer temporary relief, but only Christ can satisfy the longing of our hearts. Entertainment without God leaves us thirsty and can distract us from our God-given destiny. The enemy is content to keep us entertained, as long as we are not empowered or walking in our purpose.
To break free from this cycle, we must intentionally seek connection with God over consumption, fast from the endless feeds that drain us, and fill our inner well with worship, the Word, and prayer. Only then do we move from restlessness to true rest, from emptiness to overflow. Jesus is not just the answer to our temporary needs; He is the source of eternal satisfaction. Today, the invitation is open: exchange your emptiness for His fullness, your striving for His rest, and your distractions for His destiny. Only Jesus can satisfy the longing in your soul.
Ecclesiastes 1:8 (ESV) — > All things are full of weariness; a man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
John 4:13-14 (ESV) — > Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
You cannot feel a God sized void with entertainment without God. You cannot fill a God sized void with anything of this world. It can only be filled by God and God alone. Because entertainment without God leaves you thirsty. [01:13:12] (20 seconds) #GodSizedVoidUnfillable
Entertainment without God also distracts you from destiny. Please hear what I'm saying. The enemy doesn't always destroy you with sin. Hear me good. Sometimes he distracts you with screens. Numbing yourself isn't the same as nourishing yourself. And the devil does not mind you being entertained as long as you're not empowered. [01:13:34] (35 seconds) #DistractionFromDestiny
``Only God can truly satisfy. Only God can truly satisfy Jesus. It's not that Jesus will quench your thirst. He becomes a well inside of you. God is the only one, my brothers and sisters, who can take never enough and turn it into More than enough. He's the only one. [01:22:40] (38 seconds) #RestUnderTheSon
Life under the sun, the s U n is restless, but life under the s O N is restful. Jesus wants to give us rest. Jesus says, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up into eternal life. Entertainment only offers temporary relief, but Jesus offers eternal satisfaction. [01:23:22] (44 seconds) #SwapConsumptionForConnection
Solomon was right. Entertainment without God is empty. The eye never has enough. The ear never gets its feelings. But hear me out. But Jesus was right, too. He said, whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst. Family, here's the truth. You can scroll for hours and still be restless. You can binge watch your favorite show that your cousin told you about, and you'll still feel empty. Or you can choose to drink. Drink deeply from Jesus, and Jesus will turn your emptiness into overflow. [01:31:53] (71 seconds) #EternalSoulSatisfaction
