There is no real freedom apart from Jesus; He is the truth, and His Word is the truth that sets us free from the bondage of sin. When we give our hearts to Him, we are no longer lost or bound, but become truly free and alive in Him. Just as Egypt represented bondage for the Israelites, sin is bondage for us, but Jesus delivers us into freedom and new life. [00:38]
John 8:31-32 (ESV)
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Reflection: In what area of your life do you feel most bound or stuck, and how can you invite Jesus to bring His freedom into that specific place today?
The Word of God is the sure foundation and cornerstone for our lives; when we build on it, we are held up and sustained through every circumstance. Just as the church was literally built on a Bible in its foundation, our lives must be built on the unshakable truth of God’s Word, which is precious to all who believe and available to all who will receive Him. [01:44]
1 Peter 2:6-7 (ESV)
For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”
Reflection: What is one practical way you can make God’s Word a more central foundation in your daily routine this week?
Those who hear and obey Jesus’ words are like wise builders who construct their lives on a solid rock; when storms come, they stand firm because their foundation is secure in Christ. No matter what troubles arise, you can always go to the Rock—Christ Jesus—who will help you through and ensure you do not fall. [02:31]
Matthew 7:24-25 (ESV)
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you need to trust Jesus as your solid foundation, especially when facing storms or uncertainty?
God continually provides for every need—He is the honey in the rock, the water in the stone, and the manna on the ground. No matter where you go or what you face, you do not need to worry, because everything you need is found in Him; He satisfies in ways nothing else can, and His goodness is always available to you. [05:44]
Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Reflection: Where have you been tempted to worry about provision, and how can you choose to trust God’s sufficiency and goodness in that area today?
Nothing in this world—no possession, achievement, or recognition—can satisfy the deep needs of your soul like Jesus can. He invites you to come to Him at all times, to partake of His goodness, love, joy, mercy, and peace, which are sweeter and more fulfilling than anything else you could seek. [06:41]
Psalm 34:8 (ESV)
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Reflection: What is one thing you have been seeking satisfaction from apart from Jesus, and how can you intentionally turn to Him for true fulfillment today?
Jesus is the truth, and His Word is the foundation of real freedom. Without Him, we are lost and bound, just as the Israelites were in Egypt—a symbol of bondage. But when we give our hearts to Jesus, we are set free, no longer held captive by sin. Our lives, and even this church, are built on the Word of God, which is our cornerstone and our strength. The Bible is literally in the foundation of this building, reminding us that everything we do must be grounded in God’s Word. He is precious to those who believe, and He can become precious to anyone who turns to Him.
When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we can stand on His promises. He is the living water, the bread of life, and the sweetness in the rock. No matter what we face, we can always go to Christ, our rock, and He will take care of us. Like the wise man who built his house on the rock, if we hear and do what Jesus says, we will stand firm through every storm. It’s important to remember where God has brought us from and the peace that comes when we lay our burdens down at His feet. Troubles will come, but we are not defeated; we are victorious in Him.
There is a sweetness and a satisfaction in Jesus that nothing else in this world can offer. He is the honey in the rock, the water in the stone, and the manna on the ground—He provides everything we need, wherever we go. We don’t need to worry, because He is always enough. Even when we are tempted to be anxious, we can trust that God has us in His hands. He keeps giving, providing, moving, and proving Himself faithful. Nothing else—no possession, achievement, or pleasure—can satisfy like Jesus. He invites us to come to Him for love, joy, mercy, and peace, again and again.
1. John 8:31-36 (ESV) — > So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
2. Matthew 7:24-25 (ESV) — > “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
3. Psalm 81:16 (ESV) — > “But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
He is the truth because He is the Word. And the Bible says, when we know the truth, the truth will make us free. There is no freedom, true freedom, without Jesus. When we have Him, we are free. Free indeed. Without Him, we're just lost. We're like those that were back in Egypt. Egypt is a type of bondage. Sin is bondage. When we give our hearts to Jesus, we become free. We're no longer bound. We become free and we have life in Him. [00:00:09] (54 seconds) #FreedomInJesus
Our church is built on the Word. Literally built on the Word. Right down here, underneath where my feet are, is a Bible in the foundation. Because when this church was built, we said, we want it to be built on the Word of God. There's a Bible right back here in this corner. The Word is our cornerstone. It's what holds this place up. It's what holds each one of us up. The Word. [00:01:10] (44 seconds) #BuiltOnTheWord
He is precious. The cornerstone. He is precious to all of us who believe. And He can become precious to those who don't believe. All they have to do is give their heart to Him. All they have to do is like Brother James says, Jesus, I give you my life. And when you give your life to Him, you can stand on that Word. [00:01:53] (33 seconds) #PreciousCornerstone
You can drink that living water. You can eat that living bread. And you can partake of that honey in the rock. And you can know that you can go to that rock, Christ Jesus, no matter what the situation is, that He will take care of you. [00:02:26] (19 seconds) #LivingWaterLivingBread
He said, whoever hears these words and does them is considered a wise man. So I want to encourage us to never forget where God has brought us from. Never forget. When you gave your heart and life to Him, how it felt to have that burden taken off. [00:03:23] (34 seconds) #RememberYourDeliverance
When we do that, there's such a peace. Yes, troubles will come. Even when we give our heart to the Lord, troubles will come. But I tell you what, we can go to Him. We can go to that rock, Christ Jesus. He will help us through those troubles. [00:04:02] (21 seconds) #PeaceThroughTroubles
We can go to that rock, Christ Jesus. He will help us through those troubles. We can go to that rock, Christ Jesus. He will help us through those troubles. We can go to that rock, Christ Jesus. He will help us through those troubles. And they don't have to win. We win when we give our hearts to Him. We're the winners when we give our life to Him. [00:04:18] (18 seconds) #VictoryInChrist
And if nobody else needed this message today I did, because I tend to be a worry wart. My husband keeps telling me Don't worry, God's got this. So if nobody else needed this I needed this. But I'm telling you what He is so sweet He is so precious He is everything we need. [00:07:17] (25 seconds) #SatisfactionInJesus
Nothing else will ever satisfy. Not cars or clothes or money Or fame or fortune or any Hollywood or nothing else. It's going to satisfy like Jesus does. He's honey in the rock. And He wants us to come Whenever we need Him Which is all the time. He wants us to come to Him The rock And partake of that honey Of that goodness That love That joy That mercy That peace That only He can give. [00:07:42] (42 seconds)
