1. "We all know that work can be a struggle and sometimes it's easy to get bogged down in the daily grind without taking a step back and looking at what our work actually, what the purpose of our work actually is. And thinking about the topic of work this week had me thinking about my glasses here. I'm so grateful for my glasses and my contact lenses because without them I would be toast whenever I don't have them in." [31:23] (30 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

2. "Your work has purpose that matters. And purpose, it can make us work harder, right? Like if we don't have purpose, we're not really working hard because when we do have purpose, we have something we are aiming for. And if we want to learn how we are to work in light of this purpose, Proverbs tells us that we need to take a look at an ant." [35:14] (24 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

3. "The reality is every job, every role, matters for the benefit of those around us. I love this quote from late pastor Tim Keller in his book Every Good Endeavor. It says this about our work for others: 'We can find satisfaction in our work even if our jobs are not by the world's standards exciting, high paying, and desirable. Even though, as Luther argues, all work is not is objectively valuable to others, it will not be subjectively fulfilling unless you consciously see and understand your work as a calling to love your neighbor.'" 4. "Your work has purpose that matters. You are fulfilling God's design of being his image bearer for his glory in the public spaces or in the cracks and crevices of this world. And when you're in the church, while it may feel pointless and fruitless at times, know that the Lord sees. He sees your work. 1 Corinthians 15:58 tells us and it reminds us and encourages us that we can be steadfast and movable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain." 5. "God does want you to work hard and work with purpose, but he mostly is focused on your how you represent him in your job, your attitude, and the way that you interact with others while at work. Notice here in Proverbs 15:16 where it says this: 'Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble with it.' So there's a perspective here that the fear of the Lord is better than riches and great treasure and influence." [42:43] (32 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

6. "If the world is infiltrated and filled with cheating, grumbling, and gossip, the one who displays integrity, forgiveness, kindness, and care for others is going to shine like a star in the night sky. Shine like a star in the night sky. And you have an opportunity every single day to wake up and display this type of attitude towards those that you interact with. And over time, people will notice. They will notice, giving you the opportunity to be able to point others to the hope that you have, which is Jesus Christ." [48:25] (36 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

7. "Work is an act of worship that matters. See, God's wisdom gives us a greater lens towards our work and it helps us have that deeper motivation in understanding why we are working. We don't work for what the band Loverboy says, 'Everybody is working for the weekend,' right? I hope that gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day, right? Yeah, yeah. But a lot of people work for the weekend. We are so prone to work for the weekend or to work for the paycheck, for money." [49:16] (34 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

8. "The Lord has uniquely designed you and I to be in the spot where we're at right now to bring Him glory by the good works that you do. And something we do as a staff here at Rock Point is we pray for our church family who are in the various spheres of influence around them. I think there's a picture of them here. There's a lot of them. We seek to pray for where you guys are being sent out during the week to be witnessed and representatives of Jesus where you're at." 9. "If you are a stay-at-home parent, you have the incredible purpose of raising up your children and you can model what it looks like to faithfully follow Jesus in your everyday life. Each day is a major opportunity for you to serve, care, and teach your children what it looks like to live for Christ, bringing glory to Him. And if you're not working anymore, if you're retired, this doesn't mean that your influence is lost. This is your time to teach and to share that all God has done for you and taught you over the years in your life." [54:10] (38 seconds) (Download raw clip | Download cropped clip)

10. "Each one of us is placed where we're at for a reason in the season of life that we're in. And if we follow Jesus, we can put on our new lens and view God's work God's way. This is how work can be fulfilling. And Colossians 3:17 reminds us of these things that in whatever we do, whether it's word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus as his representatives, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
