i grew up in a christian household my mother wanted us to be comfortable in our own skin my father wanted us to gain an understanding of the word of god and they wanted us to be good citizens for the community my mom was the one that put tony evans in in the auburn alternative in our household she would have him on every morning and on the way going to school you must be one who believes that there are two answers to every question god's answer and everybody else and everybody else is wrong [00:00:44]

my parents divorced when i was 13 years old it was a very trying time during my adolescent years you know just having low self-esteem and and just really um trying to find you know out who i was as a young woman it was a time to where i did need both my parents and not having the support and the love that i needed with my father because my mother took custody of us [00:01:24]

i graduated with a degree in administration of justice i started off as an officer with the texas department of criminal justice in 2012 i left the state of texas as a full-time as parole officer and i was pretty much burnt out working as a government employee i guess it was a case of me actually being sick and tired of being sick and tired tony evans helped me understand that faith matched your footsteps it has to align with what god has put in you to do [00:02:01]

if you are not applying what god has put in you to apply then you know your faith is worthless the job of the holy spirit is to lift the truth off of the page and write it on your heart he's the one that helped me understand i was a writer i had been writing my whole life my mother literally put a pen and a diary in my hand at the age of four [00:02:42]

god opened up this door which was essentially a dream job i'm the editor-in-chief of dts magazine i am bringing you know my own fresh perspective my vision my gifts my talents that come from within me these are the things that god has given me to really do the best that i can i'm very blessed to sit up under tony evans who has obviously impacted the entire world over a period of 40 years [00:03:17]

i don't know what this is going to look like 30 years from now but my focus is on today i want to be able to look back and just say wow guys that is amazing look at your image there is nobody like you and when god made you he did not mess up [00:03:51]

dr evans there are no words to describe his impact on my life and i hope someday 30 years from now that i would have the same impact on an eight-year-old little girl [00:04:15]
