3. "I believe part of the blessing that Paul is giving to the church in Philippi is for them to continue to be a people of joy in what I would suggest is an anxious and cynical world. And I think that's every bit as true for the church in Philippi in this passage as it is for us today."

6. "The man saying I can do all things through him who gives me strength says it because he knows what it means to rely on the strength of God on days that he doesn't have it. He knows what it means to be content in the circumstances God has set before him, because he's ridden the highest. He's ridden the highest of highs and felt like he's been in the lowest of lows and in the midst of all of it has said to God I will trust you, lean on you, find my strength in you in the midst of those circumstances."
