Today, we heard a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness through pain, loneliness, and brokenness. A young woman shared her journey from a childhood marked by family turmoil, betrayal, and deep wounds, to a place of hope and belonging in Christ and His church. Her story reminded us that God meets us in our darkest moments, often through unexpected means, and that He uses community to bring healing and growth. Even when we feel unseen or unheard, God is present, and He places people in our lives to walk with us, encourage us, and help us discover our true identity as beloved children of God.
We reflected on Paul’s words in Philippians 2:1-4, where the call is to unity, humility, and valuing others above ourselves. The unity of the church is not built on any one person, not even a pastor, but on Christ Himself. As I prepare to step away for a season of sabbatical rest, this is a crucial time for our church to remember that our foundation is Jesus, the true Shepherd. The church is never leaderless; Christ is always present, guiding and empowering His people. This is an opportunity for each of us to step up, use our gifts, and serve one another—not just to attend, but to participate fully in the life and mission of the church.
We are called to be more than spectators. The early church flourished not because of personalities, but because of their devotion to Christ, to one another, and to the mission God gave them. This is a season for us to grow, to encourage each other, and to discover new ways to serve. When we do, God brings fruit in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Even as I rest, the work of the church continues, and I trust that God will do beautiful things through each of you. Let us remember that our faith is anchored in Jesus, not in any one leader, and that He is always with us—there is always “another in the fire” with us, no matter what we face.
Philippians 2:1-4 (ESV) — > So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
1 Peter 4:10-11 (ESV) — > As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV) — > And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
