When you find yourself in the darkest valleys—emotionally, physically, or spiritually—remember that God draws especially close to the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit. In moments when you feel alone, overwhelmed, or even tempted to give up, God is not distant or turned away; instead, He is nearer than ever, ready to comfort, strengthen, and deliver you. The valleys of life are not evidence of God’s absence but opportunities to experience His presence more deeply than ever before. Cry out to Him, knowing He hears and cares for you in your lowest moments. [44:20]
Psalm 34:17-19 (ESV)
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Reflection: When have you felt most alone or crushed in spirit? How might you invite God to draw near to you in that place today?
Life’s greatest battles are often fought in the valleys, not on the mountaintops. Like David facing Goliath, we may feel outmatched by the giants in our lives—whether they are struggles, temptations, or fears. Yet, victory does not depend on our strength or resources but on God’s power and faithfulness. When you step into your valley, remember that the battle is the Lord’s; He is the one who delivers, and your greatest threats can become your greatest testimonies when you trust Him. [38:43]
1 Samuel 17:47 (ESV)
And that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.
Reflection: What “giant” are you facing right now that feels too big for you? How can you surrender this battle to God and trust Him to fight for you?
Trouble and suffering are a normal part of life for everyone, including believers. The Bible teaches us not to be surprised by fiery trials, but also assures us that these troubles are temporary and cannot compare to the glory God will reveal. Even when struggles seem endless, God promises deliverance and hope. Hold on to the truth that your current valley is not the end of your story—God’s deliverance and glory are ahead. [47:41]
Romans 8:18 (ESV)
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Reflection: What current struggle feels like it will never end? How can you remind yourself today that God’s deliverance and glory are coming?
The valleys we walk through are not just about changing our circumstances—they are about changing us. Suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. When we stop trying to manage ourselves and instead surrender to God, He shapes us into people of hope and strength. The process may be hard, but God uses every valley to build your testimony and deepen your trust in Him. [50:04]
Romans 5:3-5 (ESV)
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to “fire yourself” as CEO and let God take control? What step can you take today to surrender that area to Him?
God delivers us in our valleys not just for our own sake, but so that we can testify to others about His faithfulness and comfort. Your story of God’s deliverance can encourage and lead others who are struggling. Don’t underestimate the power of sharing how God met you in your darkest moments—your testimony can point others to the God who saves and transforms. [55:44]
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (ESV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Reflection: Who in your life needs to hear how God has brought you through a valley? How can you share your testimony with them this week?
Life is full of valleys—those seasons of struggle, darkness, and discouragement that can leave us feeling lost, tired, and even tempted to give up. Just as I found myself physically and mentally exhausted in a literal valley during a hunting trip, dragging a deer through endless hills, we all encounter spiritual valleys that test our endurance and faith. These valleys are not just random misfortunes; Scripture tells us that trouble is predictable and inevitable for everyone, whether we are believers or not. Yet, the hope we have is that God is not only the God of our mountaintop moments but also the God of our valleys. He draws near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
David’s story in the Valley of Elah, facing Goliath, reminds us that the greatest battles—and the greatest victories—are often fought in the valleys, not on the mountaintops. David’s confidence wasn’t in his own strength but in the God who had delivered him before. The same God who was with David is with us in our darkest moments. Our valleys are not evidence of God’s absence or our failure; rather, they are the very places where God’s presence becomes most real and transformative. When our strength runs out, we discover the sufficiency of God’s grace and the perfection of His power in our weakness.
Trouble, though it feels overwhelming, is always temporary. Giants may taunt us for a season, but they fall in a moment by God’s hand. The suffering we endure now cannot compare to the glory that God will reveal. Even more, the valleys we walk through are not just about changing our circumstances—they are about changing us. Suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. When we surrender control and invite God into our valleys, He not only delivers us but also shapes us into people who can testify to His faithfulness.
Our testimonies are forged in the valleys. The world is not changed by our knowledge alone, but by the stories of how God has met us, rescued us, and transformed us in our lowest places. Even Jesus walked through the deepest valley, sweating blood before the cross, yet He emerged victorious so that we would never have to walk through our valleys alone. Whether you are on a mountaintop or deep in a valley today, God is with you, ready to deliver, transform, and use your story for His glory.
Psalm 34:17-19 (ESV) — > When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
1 Samuel 17:45-47 (ESV) — > Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head... that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.”
Romans 5:3-5 (ESV) — > Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
In our valleys as Christians, in our valleys where we struggle, in the valleys where we're dark, where we think about giving up sometimes. And those valleys is actually where we build our testimonies as well. [00:39:33] (17 seconds) #ValleysBuildTestimonies
That valley of trouble become the valley of triumph. And David's God, David's God that was in that valley is the same God that we have with us in our valleys. Same God. No, different God. [00:40:51] (15 seconds) #ValleyOfTriumph
Sometimes I think we look in the Bible and we look at these characters of David and say, well, he was a way better person than I am, and his God has to be different than my God. Well, I'm going to tell you something. If you're thinking that David was a way better person than you are, you need to go back and reread the Bible, because David had a whole bunch of issues. [00:41:05] (20 seconds) #DavidWasHumanToo
We in our human minds, we like to think that, well, I must have done something to deserve this trouble that I'm in. Like I must have some kind of a sin or a secret sin, or maybe my faith isn't strong enough. I'm just doing something wrong and that's why I'm going through this trouble. You ever say that to yourself like, it's me, I've caused this trouble upon myself. [00:43:25] (24 seconds) #NotMyFaultTrouble
You don't discover God's strength until your strength runs out. You ever hear that saying that I hit rock bottom and once I got so far down, I only had one way to look, and that way was to look up, and that's when I found the Lord. [00:45:42] (18 seconds) #StrengthFoundWhenLost
When we realize that the suffering that we're going through today is not even close compared to the glory that God will reveal to us, that's when we can start to walk out of these giants, out of these valleys. Trouble may linger, but it doesn't last. Giants fall. [00:48:32] (19 seconds) #GloryOutshinesSuffering
David walks into this valley as a shepherd boy, and he. He walks out of this valley as a national hero. David, a shepherd boy, walks into this valley, and if he does not walk into the valley, we do not hear this story ever. Because he goes into the story, he goes in as a boy, he walks out as a man. The valley didn't just change his circumstances, it changed him. [00:49:45] (28 seconds) #ValleyTransformsMan
What I've seen in my life is that I've led people into a relationship with somebody going to Christ with the testimony to show them and to tell them what God did in my life. That's how we testify. That's how we have that. We testify it. Because in those valleys, when we're in the deepest moments of our life, that's when God comes in and saves us. That's what people want to hear about. People want to hear about, how did your God save you? How did your God change you? [00:56:14] (30 seconds) #TestifyGodsSavingGrace
