1. "In the middle of a world where there are winds and waves and things that are going on here and there, Lord, you are the constant. You are the one who never changes. You are the one that is faithful yesterday, today, and forever. You are the one that never leaves us. You've never forsaken us. You will walk with us. In fact, you're the one that carries us. And as we trust in you, as we look to you, you are the one that makes our paths straight."

2. "Lord, I pray that as we move throughout the rest of our time together, I pray that your word would speak life to us. Lord, I pray for our nation today with all the things going on and the so much mail and so many things on TV. Lord, I pray that each person would sense peace in the middle of this process that our nation goes through. Lord, I pray that peace, your peace, would overwhelm us and calm us and remind us that you are on the throne, that you are the one we trust in, that you are our hope. You are our peace."

3. "It's been an interesting year for Tina and I because we've gone through, we've had surgeries go through our house and kids that have graduated. And so the last couple of months, we didn't take a whole lot of time the first couple of months to go visit our kids. So we've been trying to go see different ones. Last week, we got a chance to go and be with Luke and Kylie in South Carolina. They're in grad school and trying to finish up so that they can get into their career, all that kind of stuff. And it got me thinking because we've now entered into November."

4. "Something about laughter, something about being together, something about connecting. And I was, as I was thinking about that, I was thinking about you. I'm thinking about the joy that we have as a church and some of the laughter and some of the things that goes on and the care and the love that's expressed as we come together. There's something about that. Whenever I was thinking about the joy part, I, for whatever reason, I grew up, you know, in previous generations and there was a song, joy and pain."

5. "It's written to the Gentiles, anybody that's not Jewish of descent, they're Gentiles and it's the Gentile church. We know that because in his letters to the church, first Peter and second Peter, they don't miss and mention anything about the law of Moses. They don't mention those kinds of things. They just talk about the things that they're going through. And so you hear Peter's, Peter's pastor's hearts."

6. "Because anytime somebody goes from living their own life, to being born again, there's this radical change that begins to happen. It's so radical. It's so different. You go from thinking this way to thinking a whole different way. You speak one way. Now you speak a different way. You act one way and you act for yourself. You look out for your number one, whatever it is. It's all about me. And now it's over here and you're going, I want to live for the sake of the kingdom. I want to do what's right. It's so different that the only way, the best way to describe it is that you start liking it. Life over. Life's different."

7. "We go from seeing this way to this way. And when that radical, crazy change happens, we are now born with a living hope. we now live with a great expectation that's so different than living in the world there was this guy he was an ancient greek um he wrote plays he's one of the few people from the ancient greeks that we actually have full plays from his his name was sophocles if i could even say that right and sophocles to kind of sum up what the people of the ancient world thought he said not to be born at all that is by far the best fortune you want good luck don't ever be born but then he went on to say the second best fortune the second best thing that could ever happen to you is as soon as you're born with all speed to return from where you came they lived with this idea that there was no hope there was no peace there was no joy there was nothing and and just to even be born was bad at all enough."

8. "There was something different about Christians because it's always like they, it's always like they, all they could ever see was sunshine. It's all, it's like all they could ever see was the best that could happen and the best that might happen. And they just sounded different. They looked different. In fact, sometimes it makes me wonder what we sound like."

9. "Because what we begin to recognize because of the living hope that's inside of us, not a dying hope, not a hope that's just kind of hope for today and we have no idea tomorrow, but this living hope, this radical change in the way we see life is that I know that one day that's going to be the reward. And one day I'm going to see Jesus face -to -face. And one day I'm going to experience the fullness of who God is in person. And I'm going to be right there. And so, yes, there is that eternal perspective and it's long. But, man, these short -term issues keep popping up. But you know what? Whenever you begin to have that, that eternal perspective, this is what Peter's getting at. When you start having that long -term thing, you start recognizing, I can do it."

10. "A personal relationship with Jesus fills our hearts with his joy. It does. For those of you who have been walking with Jesus for decades, you know that. For those of you who are just getting started, those of us that have been walking need to share that with everybody else. Again, that's what I love about one of the things we do at Grace Church. We have a podcast and the things we do where we're like, hey, why don't you share your testimony? Why don't you share your story? Because we need to hear of the faithfulness of God."
