### Quotes for Outreach

1. "If you're clear about what your mission is, then you will be clear about making decisions related to that. It's like a sieve. It's a sieve that you look through. For those of you who don't cook at home anymore, a sieve is something that you drain stuff through. But for those of you who are a little older, you know that a sieve will let some things through, and it will catch some things. So your mission statement helps you determine, should I do this or not? Should I be a part of this?" [05:04](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)

2. "He says, first of all, he has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives. That word means having no freedom, to choose alternatives, or avoid something. Probably most of us, some of us maybe have been a captive in a jail. We've been incarcerated for a season. However, I know lots of people who are captive to alcohol. I know lots of people who are captive to other things. I know some people that are maybe captive to fear. I know some people that might be captive to their anger." 3. "Jesus said, look, I came to give sight to you for the blind spots that you may have. You know, when you hold onto an offense, you become blind to your unforgiveness. When I left Greensboro, when we left, Greensboro to come back here, had a couple of people that hurt me pretty badly. And in the midst of that, part of the hurt, I came here, I literally said to myself, you've got to be careful to not get bitter about this. Because frankly, I was, I was mad. I was madder than mad." 4. "Jesus said, I have good news for you. I have really good news. I'm going to bring you liberty out of that. I'm going to set you free out of that. I'm going to keep you safe and bring you through that. It's good news." [27:07](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)

5. "Jesus said, I want to give you some good news that you don't have to live that way because there's more to it than just stopping your behavior. Jesus wants to speak to the why behind that behavior. He wants to talk about the stuff that is driving that stuff." ### Quotes for Members

1. "There's a real difference there. You really don't know his power until you see it at work in your life. Up to that point, it's a theological concept that you agree with. I believe God can heal because he's healed me. I've felt it. I saw him fix a foot that I had torn up in sports. I've seen him do that. I've seen him do things that were supernatural. That's why I know the power of it because I've experienced and walked in it. So, sometimes when you're in difficulty and you go through changes in your life that are hard, part of the reason that that's occurring is he's wanting you to show more of his power." 2. "Our poverty, and I'm choosing to call it that our poverty is the fruit of sin that's around us and in us. That's where all this brokenness comes from. It comes from sin. So how does this brokenness occur? Let me give you three things really quick. The first thing that happens is we get broken from things that people do to us. From things that people do to us. What happened to me was something that was done to me. It was someone outside that did that to me. Things that people do to us. The second thing that happens is we get broken from stuff we do to ourselves. Sometimes we shoot ourselves in the foot spiritually. Sometimes we make bad decisions. Sometimes we just go off on somebody. Sometimes we do things and we regret them later. But again, those are our decisions. Those are things that we're doing. So it's what things people do to us. The other thing that happens is what we do to ourselves. And the third thing is we live in a fallen world and sometimes we're the consequence of someone else's stuff. We're the consequence. And we feel it. We don't like it." [27:07](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)

3. "Jesus said, no, I want you to know I'm going to bring liberty to those captives and recovery of sight to those of you who are perhaps enslaved to something. He goes on to say in Luke, Jesus said, it's not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. That's us. That's all of us. All of us. All y'all. All of us. In this analogy, repentance is not just pleading for mercy before a judge. It's opening your wounding to a physician. Let's think about that for a second. How do you understand repentance? Is it, okay, God, you've caught me. You got me. And I know I'm pretty sure you're mad at me. I'm pretty sure that you saw what I said, but I really didn't mean it. But I know you saw it. And I just, I need you to forgive me. I just don't want to go to hell. I just need you to forgive me. See, that's pleading. And that's going before a judge to just keep yourself out of trouble. But rather, repentance can be a way to get you out of trouble. But rather, repentance can be a way to get you out of trouble. Lord Jesus, I'm in trouble down here. I'm saying things I don't want to say. And I'm really doing things that I just don't want to do. And I need some help here on the inside. I need you to do something in me that's going to help me because I've gotten trapped in this anger. And I cannot stop yelling at my family. And I'm trapped right there, Lord. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just I'm mad at my boss. And I just want to choke him. But I need some help. See, it's a whole different, it's a whole different twist. And so when Jesus comes to us, because once you accept Christ, once you accept him, all of your sin for the whole rest of your life is already forgiven. It's already forgiven. Next week's mess is already forgiven. You need to hear that. That's important. Because otherwise you walk around in shame your whole life thinking, oh my gosh, I did it again. Oh my gosh, I did it again. Look at this. I'm smoking dope again. What's wrong with me? And you just beat yourself up because you haven't understood that that's forgiven. Repentance is then saying, yes, I did it. Yes, I made some mistakes. I need some help in here. Please touch me on the inside. Inside and change me. Opening your heart and opening your wound to a physician, not going through a judicial process of being forgiven. It's a whole different picture. He wants us to come to him with our ugly stuff. He wants us to come. He said, this is good news. You don't have to stay there." [32:39](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)

4. "Jesus said, everybody commits a sin becomes a doulos you're giving yourself over to that habit you're giving yourself over to the bitterness and there's a way out but you're choosing to stay in it he says everyone who does this this is what happens that's why there's no insignificant sin but the great thing is we're not we don't have to be perfect we just have to be honest we just have to be honest you're right back to what I said about repentance you go and you say I did it again I can't help it I need your help I need your help I need you the good news to the poor that he was talking about says you don't have to live that way anymore you don't have to live that way anymore I brought I'm going to help you see I'm going to help you get out of that trap and I'm going to take away the shame and the oppression of the stuff that you've been sitting in see the other is just behavioral modification Jesus is wanting real healing he wants to reach in there and heal us and I for one am really glad I am so grateful I was an absolute mess coming out of West Virginia not because of West Virginia I love West Virginia it's a beautiful place but my childhood was not the best and so coming out of that I get married I get married I get married I get married I carry all my aggression and all my crazy into my marriage and my wife is saying wait a minute what is this and I think it's normal I just needed some things changed I needed to learn how to live as a godly man there were things that needed changing Jesus said I've got good news for you so I have a question for you are you as free as you want to be right now are you as free as you want to be right now here's some questions for you do you for instance have destructive habits that you can't break do you have some of those can you go a day without social media I'm not bragging on social media I'm just saying you could be a captive to it has someone ever pointed out an issue that you continually deny is there a person you need to forgive and release I came back from Greensboro when we moved back about 15 years ago and I had a few of those nobody knew it are there people you avoid because of an offense is there a place you won't go because of an offense see when you hold on to a fence watch this little I'm going to split a hair a little bit when you hold on to an offense the sin of doing that is unforgiveness see that's the sin that's in there it's unforgiveness and so that's where you go in and you say Jesus I'm still hurting and I keep holding on to some forgiveness and I'm asking you to help me I'm just asking you to help me I'm coming and I'm opening my wounding to my physician Lord you know some of the early Christians at one point called Jesus the doctor of the soul are you jealous of other successes do you obsess about and regret past decisions are you bound to self-image are you bound up with what people think about you and your appearance and I got to tell you that you know some of these are personal and I know I've gotten personal here today I know that so how are we supposed to respond I mean this is all that Jesus came to do everything missions all those things are about setting people free he's wanting to set people free because we all can get captivated by something we can all get lost in something and not see it so how do I respond here's here's just a few little steps really quick and then we're going to pray" [37:47](Download raw clip | Download cropped clip | Download vertical captioned clip)
