Jesus gives every disciple a mission: go, make disciples, and carry the news of His death and resurrection wherever God has placed them. The Great Commission is not reserved for the professionals who go somewhere exotic. Jesus recruits His people into His salvation army, calling each one to find a unique assignment and follow Him wherever He leads.

The kingdom image points back to God’s first command to Adam and Eve: be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. Sin broke the fellowship God created humanity to enjoy, because people chose to be their own little gods. Christ restores that broken relationship, and disciples help fill His kingdom as they share the gospel and make more disciples. God’s patience shows His heart: He does not wish that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

When I was younger, before the days of GPS, some of you remember that. When you wanted to go somewhere, you got the map out and you traced out your your map, your your journey. You're gonna go here, then we're gonna turn left, and then we're gonna go right here. Gonna go so many miles. We're gonna take this road and then that road. Nowadays, in the days of GPS, we just put the address in there, and some little voice from somewhere tells us where to go. It tells us step by step. But, you know, it doesn't tell us everything all at once. I like to have the whole plan laid out. I like to know where I'm going, but that's usually not the way God leads. He usually leads like your GPS, one step at a time as his voice speaks to you as you're moving along down the road. That's the way god leads us.”
