“That's what happens in life when we're walking with God. He knows where we're heading. He has this place where he's trying to get us to, but he's given us options along the way, choices that we need to make. And when we make the ones that match up with what he wants for us, it's a lot quicker to get there. But man, when we start choosing off and different and now it's, we got to kind of walk around, we got to go through something else to get there. And that's, that's what, you know, God, this rhythm, this cadence that, that we have with him, he knows what's coming. He knows tomorrow. We do not. He knows where he's trying to get us.”
“He's saying, listen, I have these things and I need you to be over here, but I'm going to give you some choices here because our choices are going to determine how we learn and grow. Now he's given us everything we need. And if we would just read it and do it easy walk, right? But it's when we start wanting to follow ourselves, when we start wanting to do the things we want to do, when we start, you know, uh, something that's going to maybe means more to me than, than that, that word that he gave.”
“Jesus said, I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go, I'll, I'll come again and receive you unto myself. See, Jesus knew what was coming and God knows what's coming in each one of our lives.”
“The Bible makes it clear that our life here on earth is a battle. It is a spiritual battle. Paul writes in Ephesians 6, 12 and 13, and you don't need to turn there, but it says we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand.”
“We are in it every day and there is all, we have to be prepared. We have to recognize that we are fighting and we see the accounts of the turmoil and persecution that Paul had throughout his ministry. There was numerous, thousands of times that the devil tried to take Paul out, to get him ineffective.”
“At some point, he could have sat down. He could have been, poor me. Why is all this stuff happening to me? Why does it seem like everywhere I turn, something else happens to me? I can't take it anymore. Calgon, take me away. Yeah, it's what's going on. But he recognizes that it's not about him. It's about God. And as long as he still has breath, then he's going to keep doing what God has called him to do.”
“Following Jesus is not for the weak, because we are strong in him. He goes on to say, it's not, hey, in his weakness, Jesus makes us strong. That's what we need to remember. And in 2 Corinthians 12, he says, therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecution, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. And that's what we need to remember. This walk is not going to be easy.”
“We have to have an eternal outlook on our life, keeping up with Christ, not with the world around us. Everything we see around us is temporal. It's temporary. It's not going to last. It's not going to go with us in the end. But there is one thing that is going to be with us forever, and that is God. And we're able to connect, reconnect with him through Christ.”
“When times are getting tough, when things are getting bad, when life is the hardest it's ever been, remember what Jesus endured for us. And know that we have not yet strived to death. These verses are the key to sustaining a lifelong cadence with God in Christ. This was Paul's key to success in fighting the good fight. If we want to experience a healthy cadence, we have to be willing to push through the adversity that's going on around us. Push through the tough times and realize that when we're going through these things, God is with us.”
“The reality is that God has called all of his children to run this race of faith. However, he never promises a smooth race or an easy race. Rather, he actually promises us trouble.”
“He says, in the world you will have tribulation. He's not like, ah, you might have some tribulation. Ah, there might be some tough times. No, he's saying you will have tribulation. You will go through tough times. But then he says, cheer up. I mean, he said be of good cheer, but I mean, that means cheer up. Cheer up, people, because I have overcome the world.”
“We have to recognize the message of hope that Christ gives us. But he tells us we're going to go through tough times. But remember that getting through those, we can do with all joy. Because Jesus, who through the joy, right, that was set before him, endured the cross. Who for the joy through our salvation in Jesus Christ, the joy that was set before us, we endure the tribulation.”
“We have to recognize that we are not going through anything that God is not there to help me with, to help keep off the enemies and to help pull me closer to him. That's what he's doing as our shepherd.”
“There is only one supply, and that comes from Jesus Christ, and the Spirit that He gives us. All other sources that we turn to will eventually run dry. They will run out. They will leave us feeling empty and dejected. Jesus will never do that.”
“Over everything else that he just stated, the most important to him was keeping the faith. Throughout his life, throughout all of the trials, and the tribulations, and the troubles, he kept the faith. Temporary issues tried to distract him, turn him away, force him to give up on God, but along the way, Paul believed God would still be faithful even through those things.”
“The prize that Paul was chasing all along was not one that was from this world. So everything that happened in this world didn't matter. Because the prize he was going to receive, he receives in glory. In the end.”
“Remember, we fight fights daily. We're in a race daily. And we need to walk by faith daily. Paul had significant challenges. We have significant challenges. Christ had significant challenges. And through them all came victory.”
“We need to walk in step with the spirit. We need to have the power of community. That's why the body of Christ was created. Man, when we are lacking strength and we don't know where to turn to to get it from, you come here and we will edify one another, which means we will lift each other up. We will help you get back on track to find your source.”
“Let me tell you that that's never Jesus saying that to you. It's never Jesus in your head saying, you know what? You don't need church today. You don't need those people. You don't need that joy in your life. You don't need that edification today. Nope. You just take care of yourself. That's, you just take a you day, right? No. Get together. Find your source. Get with them. Get the, that what you need from God. He created this for that reason.”
“When, when the devil starts saying, oh, poor you, you need to take some time for yourself. You need to just, you know, you need to heal. You need to, and it's like, no, I need to get back to doing what God has called me to do. Because when I'm doing that, that's when I'm going to feel my purpose fulfilled. Without it, I'm living without purpose. I'm walking without purpose. But man, when I'm walking with what God has called me to, that fills me and encourages me and strengthens me.”
“We got to walk not, not by sight, right? Not by our might, but by his power. We know that we have to be disciplined. And discipline is hard. That's why they call it discipline. Or that's why it's got a negative connotation, right? When you get discipline, it's like, well, that's always a bad thing. But it's not. Discipline is saying that I am going to do the same thing and I'm going to make it something that I do every day, that I'm going to walk in it, I'm going to live it, I'm going to make it true. We need to be disciplined in walking with God.”
“Every day, get in his word. Every day, seek him first. Every day, when is a good day to take a day off from God? That's right. Never. No day. No day. See, we don't get a day. It's every day we walk with him and we purpose to walk with him.”
“Live with purpose. Live disciplined because the world around us is chaotic. It's hectic. It's fast-paced and they're always bombarding us with fear. They want us to be afraid. They want us to be afraid of the things that are going on around us.”
“If your cadence with God seems a little out of step, and you can get that back this morning, and come, come here, tell God, listen, I've not been, I know, we're out of timing together and I need to be in step with you and he will hear you and he will bring you back because he is the creator of that dance. He is the creator of that cadence. Faith, it's a marathon, but we run it one step at a time.”
