epas epas who is one of you a slave of Christ Jes Jesus greets you always struggling Aon menos agonizing wrestling like an athlete always struggling on your behalf in his prayers to what end that you may stand mature fully assured in all the will of God. [00:01:22]

I bear him witness that he has much pain some translations just say hard work but it's this paus word here is the kind of work that puts calluses on your fingers and causes pain or bears you down it is involves discomfort that he has much pain for you and for those in Le oysa and in heropolis. [00:02:12]

he's a kind of praying athlete because this word struggling here is used for what athletes do when they run a race or fight a boxing match struggling he's struggling on your behalf so even though he's with Paul in his imprisonment he's still pastoring the church in colassi through this wrestling prayer. [00:05:37]

he's praying for their standing and not falling over I me the false teachings and they'd be fully complete in every way that they would be fully assured in all the will of God let's step back and think about these these words for just a minute just take the word struggling fighting. [00:06:50]

all of the Christian Life is a good fight Timothy and Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight and I have finished the race so the good fight is something we do and something our pastors do or our epis like lovers of our souls do for us as as they wrestle struggle fight in prayer on our behalf. [00:07:33]

Paul is struggling and fighting for the maturity of the church and now he simply says epas even though he's not with you Colossians doing that like I do it in in person with people he's also doing it by prayer stand fully assured in all the will of God. [00:08:46]

the promises of God themselves are the good will of God for his people and we need confidence and full assurance in those so here's that same word in Romans fully assured in Romans 4:20 and 21 no unbelief made Abraham waver concerning the promise of God now that's God's will about what's going to happen to Christians or to Abraham in particular. [00:10:19]

he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God fully convinced now that's the way it's translated in verse 20 of Romans 4 or 21 fully convinced means fully assured that God was able to do what he had promised so what he's praying for here is that they would stand and not fall down that they would grow up and not be children. [00:11:16]

this is a life style isn't it I mean this is a man who day in and day out is acting like he's walking among them wrestling for them in every decision that they're making and all the study that they're doing and all the battles in their life it's as though he's right there wrestling with them. [00:13:30]

God has provided for my care I'm not left alone here I've got all these people who love me and are en encouraging being a comfort to me and I even have a doctor and how he is loved in the way he cares for me because you cannot believe the scars that I bear that have to have attention day after day so that I can keep functioning for for Jesus. [00:14:37]

Deus in love with this present world has deserted me and gone to thessalonica so here he's apparently a faithful servant with Paul no criticism and he greets the the Saints in colassi but as it turns out he's the opposite of Mark isn't he Mark had a falling out and left Paul and he's come back and so he's to be welcomed. [00:15:14]

if Mark can come back so canem us if you know somebody like that don't write them off do this struggle for them in prayer. [00:16:06]
